The job of a dispatcher before and now

What are the differences? I don't think it's possible to compare the work of a dispatcher a few years back and now. The job has changed a lot. It’s amazing how much work they are now asking to be done by one dispatcher here at UP. Worst of all, I don’t believe if it’s much better in other companies either.

They told dispatchers exactly what they thought of them when they fired a bunch, increased their workload, and then when raise and bonus time came gave them across the board 1-2% without paying attention to skill or performance. Despite record profits on the pandemic they want to pretend they don't have any money while hitting G55. I am not surprised the dispatchers are leaving.

Tough jobs, I would not want to be a dispatcher. Whoever made the comments about corridor managers don’t know what they are talking about. Those jobs are tough also. They get blamed with anything that happens to delay traffic and are talked to like dogs on the conference calls by superintendents and region VP’s. Both dispatcher and corridor manager are thankless jobs.

They are asking too much of one dispatcher. It’s costing a lot in the long run. I see trains waiting on the dispatcher sitting for hours

They're losing experienced dispatchers at an alarming rate, these are not jobs you can fill overnight with a craigs-list ad like corridor manager and Halcon jobs...
