Why not offer voluntary layoff time?

I would happily take Dec 7-Jan 23 off every year if it meant no layoffs. Sign me up today!
Why not run the business like a business
This used to happen around December and January in the 90's and before when traffic slowed. No unemployment though because it was voluntary.
