I'm only coming back to these boards because some of my friends have been PIP'd this year and I am revisiting memory lane.
Let's just say that 80% of my (EMIT) friends have left Exxon already and have found higher pay and more enjoyable jobs elsewhere. No matter if they were PIP'd, laid off, or stayed until they found another job, they are ALL happier. I got a 27% pay bump and love working in my current company. I feel valued and respected.
It's sh---y what the company does to lay you off. No human being deserves that. You deserve better
