If you really think having an insincere religious exemption will exempt you, then you are in for an education. IBM has an obligation to provide a safe working envio, and they take that seriously because they are liable if someone comes to work and you infect them. ALSO the courts have ruled and continue to rule that your rights end where others begin. THUS you can’t be a risk to society while you wander around in public. Society will restrict your movement just like they do with folks who have tuberculosis, small pox, Ebola, typhoid, etc etc diseases. Societies errr on the public good side of the ledger, and they really don’t care about your perceived personal freedoms. If they deem you a risk, you will feel their rathe. ALSO NOTE The HR person will interview you on your religious exemption. If you have ever taken a vaccine in the past (flu shot, measles, mumps, etc etc your claimed exemption is null and void. As I said IBM and the courts take religious claims quite seriously, but they will demand proof If you lie, you will be terminated immediately Good luck with your new religion

But with each mandate comes exceptions. Employers have to make reasonable
accommodations for staff who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons or refuse
vaccination because of "sincerely held religious beliefs," according to the U.S. Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Looks like I've just obtained some sincerely held religious beliefs.

On the plus side, I now understand why IBM is in such poor shape: so many ignorant, entitled, selfish, and yet highly-opinionated anti-vaxxers here.

And by the way, these are overwhelmingly the same people who think they know better how to run IBM...

"Isn’t this against the Nuremberg trails? Cannot force somebody to accept vaccines or any medical proceedure ?"

Welp, there it is, the absolute stupidest thing anybody will ever say about vaccination. Jesus H. Christ. At least do the minimum of research before making an id--t of yourself.

"And no Religious Exemptions? Isn't that in violation of First Amendment civil rights protection?"

Never mind... this is even stupider. It's a good idea to know what your constitutional rights are before claiming they are being violated. And by the way, it's about time we stopped allowing people to endanger others - not just themselves - because the imaginary magic sky fairy said so.

@3lgx So many things wrong here.

  • Even if you have had Covid, you can still get it again
  • Even if you have had Covid or EVEN IF YOU ARE VACCINATED you can still pass it on to others. This goes double for Delta
  • Masks work to reduce transmission in both directions. See points 1 and 2 above.
  • Natural immunity to this virus is absolutely minimal. Forget it.

How about one building for vaccinated people, and another one for unvaccinated people.

I don’t support discrimination normally, but I support discrimination in this case because it benefits me. Interesting take, very interesting.

Sounds a lot like we’re all equal, but some are more equal than others.

They want people to quit. Cheaper than layoffs. It's those companies looking to reduce headcount that are mandating the vaccine. For those who refuse vaccination, company can pick and choose who to let go for not following policy.

Only a pos would want an anti vaxxer to be laid off for no other reason than not being vaccinated.

It’s not mandatory to get vaccinated and 16 states have banned vaccine mandates so you’re wishful thinking bruh.

I hope all the anti vaxers get laid off, create more jobs for us and save ibm some money.

Bruh, do you even read?
You don’t have to go in the office if your vaxxed. But if you want to go in the office, you have to be vaxxed. IBM is doomed with these brains working there.

The ones who choose not to vax up get to stay wfh? Great!
And the vax crowd can mask up back in the office like suckers.
That's hilarious

Yes, they can fire you. Do not try to quote the constitution until you understand it.

They should rename the delta variant to the darwin variant as it is doing a pretty good job of getting rid of the bottom feeders of our species.

This is example of typical click-bait spreading false truths post…… only posting part of the story as a headline. They aren’t “mandating vaccines”. They are requiring them for entry into an office.

By: Lauren Ohnesorge – Senior Staff Writer, Triangle Business Journal
Aug 6, 2021, 1:04pm EDT

Raleigh-based open source software firm Red Hat is the latest Triangle-based employer to require a vaccine for non-remote work.

In a blog post published Friday by Jennifer Dudeck, Red Hat’s senior vice president and chief people officer, the IBM (NYSE: IBM) subsidiary said that starting Monday Red Hatters working at Red Hat Tower in downtown Raleigh – as well as other locations in the United States – must be vaccinated.

“As conditions continue to evolve, so must Red Hat’s approach,” Dudeck wrote in the memo, adding that additional details would be forthcoming for Red Hatters not eligible for vaccination due to medical reasons. “If you have already returned to a Red Hat office in the U.S., you will be contacted next week with details on how to affirm your vaccination.”

The post said Red Hat is "currently determining how this vaccination guidance will be extended across countries, including considering the availability of vaccines."

Red Hat has around 2,500 workers in the Triangle and around 12,000 globally.

Red Hat also announced it would extend its global default to remote guidance into the first business day of 2022. “We ask that anyone who can work remotely please continue to do so,” she wrote.

IBM didn't immediately return a request to comment on its own policies Friday.

Red Hat employees will continue to wear masks when engaged in in-person work interactions, Dudeck wrote.

“Masking is required no matter your vaccination status,” she added.

In instituting a vaccine mandate, Red Hat, which was purchased by IBM in 2019 for $34 billion, joins several other local employers, including both SAS and Cisco, to make the move. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper made an appeal last week for private sector employees to require vaccinations.

"Right now, being a good corporate citizen means getting your people vaccinated," Cooper said last week.

Yes they will fire you. You work in an at-will employment state. For those not in the know:
“At will employment means that either employer or employee can terminate the employment arrangement at any time for any or no reason at all. In other words, an employer can terminate an employee without cause or warning.”
So yes…. Yes they will fire you, without reason and you’ll have to bend over and take it.

Or what? What are they going to do to me if I don't comply with their illegal mandate? Fire me??? Go ahead; make my day. And bring on the class action lawsuit!
