I hope management completely smashes the CWA. They are completely worthless. It’s hard to imagine a more worthless organization. I have been giving dues to what end. F them.

The future of the union at this company lies in the strength of the +20 year workers. They must demand a better work environment in the next contract and be ready to put it on the line. It's that simple
It’s actually not that simple. Most of the 20+ year people are in the field. The field is greatly outnumbered by the inside folks, mostly sales office. The sales office has lots of turnover so a long tenure is rare. When negotiating comes the company is smart enough to dangle raises and a few other carrots in to make them happy. The outside and other long term employees vote no, but the contract is ratified anyway. Such is life. It’s easier when you just accept it I guess. Doesn’t hurt so much of you don’t struggle. Sad but true.
Yeah the union is great, when they were letting all of us go the union did nothing. But they did save the job of the union president who held the same job title as me but with only 12 years to my 20+
"If it wasn't for the union we would all be making minimum wage. Remember that!"
not necessarily true, probably depends on the state and/or union contract. I know in our area the non-union techs doing the same job are paid several $ more, but yes we still have a pension and theirs was frozen.
To all who don’t want the union just go into management. Stand on your own merits. Problem solved.
2009 management came in and no longer had a pension plan. Same would happen to see us with no union. Oh remember we are a land line phone company and last time I looked we have lost 90% of our customers. It’s quite the opposite of the old ADL days. If you don’t think the union is doing anything then get involved and see what is happening from the inside. More than you think!

We the employees need to grow some ba--s the next contract negotiations and make our demands or we strike and stick it to the greedy scumbag execs making millions and playing with our livelyhoods.
Union doesn't own this company. Be grateful you made 30% more than cable company wages.
You do know they have tiers there and their senior guys make more then our senior guys.
They do have a ton of contractors that work for them however, maybe you are referencing them.

Let me say this again... At least the company pays me to sc--w me. I have to pay the Union to sc--w me!!!!!!!!
Need to ask why? Look at the huge payout paid to the Union by the company for contract approvals and settlement, I know one was over 500,000, conflict of interest much when the company buys out the Union to push to approve our contracts.
I'm a proud union member. I bet you complain about lots of things.
Ask yourselves, why hasn’t there been a strike in the last what 20years, even when we had the company bent over a barrel. Then ask yourselves how much money went to that strike fund in that time. Is it still there?? 20 years of dues flowing into that account is a lot of money. We should demand to see financials of that fund. I bet it’s as dry as the desert.
If IBEW sides with Lumn on the experimental vaccine mandate, many will quit the union.
Well chances are Lumen will not be negotiating the next contract, they do not want maintenance, Employees, Regulation, or be held accountable.
2022 is the benchmark for the Apollo completion, there is more in works bet on it. They want Classic Qwest, not Legacy Qwest, CLEC Footprint in Major areas, Sell IT management services done by offshore contractors.
“ Not going to go to bat for the CWA, but your wage, vacation, and seniority rights and the fact the company has to give you at minimum 90 days before showing you the door are all because of the union. The CWA has its problems for sure but it’s STILL better than no representation at all.”
They can’t continue to use 30 year old accomplishments as a reason to continue to support them today.
