Anybody else curious on why we have so many local managers when the planners pretty much control the pulse of the techs & workload. Windstream could save piles of money by consolidating that job class and I’m sure there’s app in our world class system that could just approve our time sheets to make sure we aren’t cheating the system…. Right ?

The only reason for local managers is the area managers need someone to take a steamy dump on from time to time. I laugh because some of these local managers still think they’re going to climb a ladder here!! Some of the loser area managers still think they’re going to be a VP someday!! Very sad people. That’s what makes them miserable idjuts. Could you imagine being in that family having to listen to that naïveté and depression day in and day out…
Good point. I have never met my VP. Never seen my VP. Never received an email from my VP. They work from home 1,000 miles from my market and never poke their head out.
This post should be, why so many VP's and SVP's? This place is like a bank, you are either a VP or a teller. Seriously, we try to entice mediocre low level Executives to stay by offering them titles that are really just self serving.
All the planners do is Ole’ tickets to the techs. “Oh, here’s your 13th task for today because it’s in your area”….meanwhile another tech has 1 task. They don’t really “plan” much of anything.
IMO, markets do need local managers because those at the director level (in another state) have no idea what’s going on in your market.
My market has a dozen techs and 2 managers...
Local managers order material? Must be nice. My manager approves orders I put in, but he doesn't order squat for my market.
I'm not sure you are aware of the alarming news broadcast, but WIN is not interested in saving money. They are interested in sucking all of the money from the worker bee's and saving the honey. They have proved it time and time again. 20 million to stay motivated while you figure out how to pay your electric bill. I wouldn't worry about how they spend or waste their money. You need to focus on you.

Yep because all a local manager does is approve timesheets and order material.
