Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

So... who's getting fired next? Field Service, BYOD Support, Everybody in IT Support?

Why drag it out? Just let everybody so know so they can get rid of their false hope and move on.

They’ve been working on this for more than a year. More to come by end of this year for those that fall under Rick M and then all AT will either be the literal 1% hired in house and the rest outsourced

They're not going to "fire" FS persay. FS needs knowledgeable onsite personnel, so they're going to offer FS techs positions. But, FS is going to get less pay, terrible benefits, and far less PTO time from HCL. I know half my FS team is going to take the severance and leave when that time comes, and the other half are undecided. And we're already at 1/3 the staff we have prior to 2020.

If you think you're having a hard time now getting a response from FS about anything. It is going to get a lot worse.

Pray it’s you! Best thing that ever happened to me when they outsourced my job Oct-2020! No more working my fingers to the bone for naught! Much happier now!

Leaving Ascension has been good for me and my market value. When shiny things were going through the digital studio with little possibility or current tech employees available to be a part of it, I knew I had to move.

I'm now working in a modern environment that encourages innovation. Not three change requests per update.

I know for those that are still there it sucks if you aren't ready to leave. It may be a huge blessing to be cut or leave on your own.

So happy I no longer have to endure the ignorance and stupidity playing out in my Ascension workplace. The dilapidated facilities. The expensive IT Director who routinely demonstrated extreme ignorance of even the most basic aspects of technology. The over-paid executives who put steady pressure on line employees to fund business expenses using personal employee resources. The fundamental lack of planning. The inability to recognize/apply industry-approved standards. Disdain and lack of respect for certification training. Poorly-prepared, Ascension-branded online training that offered little value to the employee. The unwillingness to address workplace safety and code violations. I agree the culture of IT at Ascension needed to change and one can actually see why mass layoffs have taken place. IT was doing a cruddy job, in general. The problem is the executives who created that culture are still there. Still blind to the even more drastic changes that need to be made.
