Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Any improvement at Greengate Manchester ?

I guess the place is still going backwards. Otherwise good people wouldn’t be leaving at the rate they are.

3 potential buyers for the main office building on Greengate plus another who wants to take some of the car park as well as the waste land. The people doing the negotiating for us do not work for Nov Manchester. Local politician involved which is how I know.

Hah. It’s just the big office building being sold off. Not the factory. The office is no longer needed and costs money to run.

Talk in NOV upper management is plant closure maybe on the horizon, so fingers crossed everyone

Good point , whenever I go in the commercial offices most of the sales guys are playing on their phones, have been for several years but it’s allowed to continue because of weak management

I wonder if the phone ban applies to Barry (back of the net) and the rest in the offices

That’s good then, some discipline back in the place instead of letting everyone do whatever they want.
Hope they stop the non warranted weekend overtime too, some of you guys will need to tighten your belts.
Greengate is just a joke in the world of NOV

Plans for September include a ban on shop floor mobile use. A ban on food deliveries to work. A fire drill. A return of pass outs to leave site which you have to show security.

Rotork are hiring near Greengate if anyone interested , good pay and better conditions, they value people too although you may struggle to adjust to that after NOV!

Funny, I just heard he hasn't got the job yet. He only applied for it because he has been doing the job anyway. Might as well get paid for it I say. I agree with the comments about people trying to slag him off, chill out on the lad, I personally think he will do well, came from the shopfloor and earned his place in my eyes, what he doesn't need is negativity aimed at him before he even starts the job.

Why don't you go say something to him. Looking at your spelling you definitely work in rubbershop. Take it your one of these who pretends to be his mate to his face then slags him off behind his back. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened to people who try to better themselves from that department. Next you will be saying your happy with your own job and not one bit jealous of the lad. GROW UP.
Good luck junior, ignore the haters

Weekend shifts for rubber shop. New rubber gaffer already chosen. Pay rise rejected for staff again. Packers and storemen to be cross trained so they can do both jobs. Mixers and pump stores combined and overtime reduced. Pump verification to be done by pump fitters.

They don’t put the pay because they don’t want people to know.
Most of the so called skilled men are getting paid far too much and plenty of overtime, even when business is slow, always been like this but it needs a good shake up from a new owner!
Are those two wasters from Derby still running the place? That won’t help make things better

Rates of pay will never be competitive while NOV talks to a union stuck in the 1970's, with semi-skilled worker's on 90% skilled rate, skilled rate pay will never improve and they'll never be able to recruit the right people

It’s a shame Bilko held us back. With his fake LEAN credentials, favours for his mates, and 18 months sat at home.

Not until they get rid of the 15 years service plus employees, they are dragging the company down with antiquated ways. . . . . Look son, this is how manufacturing in the 1970's used to look like!
