Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How many times has this happened to you?

I have been working in a large project with 2 deliverables. I finished the first already, and I am past half way the second one. I was told that the project is getting canceled by a higher level manager's whim.
So all my efforts were in vain, all my time wasted, and I have nothing to show for it, because all the managers are going to behave like the project never existed in the first place. It is kind of disheartening for me. I don’t even want to work now in the other projects.
________
I apologize for copying someone else's post but it almost felt as if I had written it myself, that's exactly what happened to me recently... again.

With any company especially a large one these types of things happened. I had a similar thing happened and I transferred out of that dept. A long time ago. Find a boss you like and admires his or her management style and go work for them. That may apply outside of Ford.

This has happened to me a number of times. Once was a large multi-year project that was ready to implement and we were called into a meeting and told the project was canceled effective immediately. Agency people were walked out and Ford people were given three months to find a new position or they would be “laid off”. Yes I was paid, that is not the concern. It is such a waste of Ford’s money to pay so many people’s salaries for years without realizing any benefit. I have also worked on projects that, without warning, decide that time is up and the project must be implemented quickly without proper testing. If Ford had better planning and made better use of their resources, including cash, they likely would have higher profits and better quality.
