How safe are remote positions? I was thinking of going fully remote, but I'm worried if that's a smart choice in the long run. I'm thinking that remote jobs can easily be outsourced and since this is Allstate, I doubt they'd care about the quality of employees who'd replace us. Am I overthinking this?

Remote jobs are the future . Do it
Who cares! Do you really plan on staying at Allstate long term? It’s being run to the ground .
@rrn+1cYjoQhU I have to disagree. I have way more respect for my coworkers when I don't have to see them in person and listen to them click their pen or chew loudly all day.
If office works for you, great, but your ability to do those things in person in an office is going the way of the dodo.
Be careful of remote work and your future, if it can be done remotely it can be done anywhere. I was laid off last year, 20 years with company previous 3 years were remote. There are lots of things to love about remote but it is bad for a career. You really lose how to communicate one on one and bounce ideas off each other. My new job gave me option to work from home but I learn so much and network a lot better in an office. My opinion, but if you have a “job”, work from home. If you want a career get into an office and work side by side with humans. Zoom and IM are not the same as in person meetings. My opinion and I am sure others will feel differently.
Our entire dept is remote now. Definitely safe. Don't need to go into work to do my job.
Like 80% of the jobs in this company are now full time remote. Even DMs and higher ups. And there are a lot of departments from the top down that will be eventually outsourced once COVID finally wanes. Would have been done by now but COVID just temporarily delayed the mass outsourcing. The current mass hiring is just a rouse and 99% of the rubbish that came out of Wilson's mouth yesterday was just scripted corporate nonsense and lies.
Afaik, no position here is safe.
with that said, going remote would make it far easier to look for new work.
