Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Yes man daily

To some extent I understand all those yes man who do exactly what they’re told and who don’t think for themselves, because here it seems impossible to achieve anything if you’re not one of those irritating people. How many times a week do you get irritated by one of the many yes mans at Schlumberger?
What is not clear to me, however, is how top dogs, no matter how much they like it when others support their ideas, do not understand the dangers of yes man culture?

Yes men often mess up though because a majority of them are already in a tangled weave and constantly have to dig themselves out of a mental ho-e. It leaves them to appear distorted at night when they go to sleep thinking about the regrettable choices they have made.

It's the Dunning-Kruger effect.
If a person is incompetent, he cannot judge when other people are incompetent.
So, a top dog Yes-man does not see when others are being Yes-men,
even when it is absolutely clear to competent observers.
