Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Perhaps it’s the market, not the management??

What do you think?

Except in NOV world where the customer is not right, give them what we make, not what they want!

The market simply exists as a conduit to sell product which the management indirectly produce so if product does not sell or does sell is simply a matter of demand.
The management would not exist without the market hence the customer is always right.
Swallow that!

Cr---y stocks are what you get when you let go of a sales team and have a “I alone can fix it”, mentality.

The market isnt the best right now, I agree.
I will say that oil prices are up over 70 bucks P/Bl.
Most other oil company's are seeing their stock prices rising.
NOV’s stock doesn't go anywhere but down.
It hit a high of 18 bucks a share in may and currently headed back to its low.
So i say NO!
Its not the market anymore.
That leaves only one common denominator.

It’s the best non profit company I know; furthermore, they produce great security guards that ride segways and wear nursing shoes.

The market is not good. There really are a lot of forces that make it hard to be a manufacturer of equipment in the drilling world. That said, this management team is incompetent. There's not reason for the years and years of losses. At some point you have to hit rock bottom, but this team continues to find ways to keep digging.

Its management, open your eyes. Only this company would allow a CEO & his minion leadership team to continue their job year after year of zero profit. Embarrassing for the Chief Elfecutive but it is what it is.

US Rig count is up ~50% YoY, NOV revenue (let’s not talk about profits) has underperformed that recovery… fleet reactivations are happening and that backlog is not going up. I’d say that shines a big spotlight on the skippers
