Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

No luck finding something good

I've had a few interviews in the past several months and I even got two offers but the pay was too low to even consider accepting them. Considering that my pay is not that high as it is, you can just imagine what was being offered. Is that what it's going to take to leave Xerox behind? Accepting an offer that's so below what I deserve that it's laughable?

Also depends on the area. Looking locally has not turned up anything but low ball offers, but I had one offer is a similar expense area with a 10% increase and better benefits. Oh and lower taxes too than NY.

Downside is I am stuck in NY for now.

I work in the supply chain at X, and I'm currently in the process of interviewing for a job that pays $10K more per year. Plus better health care. Plus 401K match. I guess it all depends how long you've been with Mother Xerox and how much in demand your skillet is. Supply chain/purchasing/warehouse jobs are now a dime a dozen.

Xerox pay has been on the “cheap” for front line workers these past 10 years ..
Internal recruitment of engineering talent has all but fallen by the wayside as Xerox cannot match outside competitors. Besides Xerox would rather outsource / contract than pay for
benefits. Not a good situation for a
company trying to stay competitive.

I got a $7,000.00 per year more and my benefits are so much better less each pay check and no out of pocket. Plus 401k match over time and no stress. And I don't pay $150.00 dollars for a white van.

I had an interview the other day when the HR lady had the ba--s to tell me that salaries have been over inflated the past few years and companies are having to reduce salaries of their current employees. I’m sure she heard me laughing at her.

I left and got a massive increase in pay. It all depends on the job type and skills.

Mostly all people I know who left found way better jobs
I too am looking and I will take a pay cut if I have too but I am not leaving one cr-p job for another, I will also never work for another company again that outsources their work
I am seeing and dealing with first hand how crazy messed up this company is
I was actually told that X does not care about the customer or employees or how the work is done, right, wrong or done at all
They only care about reducing costs
But what cracks me up is how much money sales managers and VP's make and do 1/4 of the work that I do, them making $125,000 to $150,000 per year when one of them doesn't even know how to fill out a simple lease document or contract is just sickening
But people are getting sick of it, we had 4 people onshore give their notice this week because they have had enough!!!

At xerox due to various reasons including cronyism people were given raises even when they didn’t deserve them, making a lot of money due to tenure and not due to performance. The company got smart and snd tried to level set and get rid of those higher wage workers when they re branded the job codes — bad managers matched the job code to the salary and not to the work being done. So yes some are overpaid for simply doing the same job for 30 yrs.

I took a pay cut. I also took less responsibility and the benefits more than made up for it and within the next 2 yrs I’ll be making what I was at xerox. It was strategic on my part and I also think the improvement in my overall life is worth it that pay cut. But we all have our own situation. You do you.

Yeah, and if you're highly experienced but not cutting-edge with your tools and skillset... you'll be taking a cut if you go elsewhere. If you haven't kept current, then you may not "deserve" your current pay as much as you think.

You work for a long time at a company, your pay only goes up over the years, never down. There are times when the pay for your job is much lower than you're making, and companies just make their way through it as good as they can. But yeah, if you have to elsewhere you'll be looking at market rate for a 'new' employee in your job unless you are highly skilled at something specific they need in a hurry.

Depends on the jobs you are applying for.
