Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

The difference between departments

Culture is toxic, morale is low, I think that could be said for all Allstate departments. Still, I wonder which department do you think is the most/ least toxic?

Good question, well presented. Large company so different. Need to ask HO/claims/AT/field

HO-always protected for little contribution, protected class! I could be specific but you get the point (and you do not have to sit in HO). And if you think….are they talking about me…YES.

One of the most toxic department is Consumer Marketing but the VP just resigned so maybe there will be a culture shift . Hoping any new leadership doesn’t continue the toxic culture of promotions based on politics and not merit.

Arity isn't toxic at all... Decent work life balance, limited exposure to the allstate BS, etc

To the commenter below, I was in underwriting until I left for a competitor. I did enjoy the chat, but I don’t like how they yanked away any authority or decision making we could have made in favor of the agent or the customer.

Our hands were tied in way too many situations, and I figured it was to prepare for those chat support jobs to go to Pune.

Underwriting actually isn't too bad right now. They big time overhired people back and added 80 new hires some who never worked in insurance. As a result accountability and quality is not being measured as it should be with all the newbies which makes the job of us tenured folks even easier and much lower than anticipated turnover. Metrics have been super simplified and our chat area was reduced from 3 to 2 chats due to a mini revolt where a fair number of those chat employees refused to work for a time when we were understaffed and overworked after the 2020 layoffs. But now they hired too many. And considering new business continues to tank we are not busy at all. However there is still that stink of failure and resentment all around due to how 2020 played out in this department. Many of us are hoping with the mistake of the overstaffing in underwriting that 2022 will bring about layoffs with severance and unemployment all around. Better yet voluntary lay offs where we can choose to be cut.

Claims is bad right now . Not enough staffing abd 10-14 hour days is the norm after the massive layoffs .

The toxicity starts at the top with the worthless, drunk, greedy, ex Sears salesman Tom Wilson. Next would be the greedy butcher non American Glenn Shapiro……
