It is true that mostly late-career workers remain here, while most of the others are looking for a new job every day. However, there are also older workers who are not afraid and who are willing to hurl themselves onto the job market.

I have about three years left and I'm thinking I'd like to leave too. Do you think that in my case it is not worth looking for a new job? How close to retirement is it a bad idea to look for a job change?

You won’t know if you don’t try, it can’t hurt to look and you might find something you love. Life is too short to do something you don’t like.
Depending on your outlook in life, you might find a change refreshing. Learning new things and having new experiences might make your job interesting again.
To " have 5 more years to go. And I will the ride despite numerous offers from my client and a disgusting salary freeze plus variable pay elimination from DXC." why would you stay? That is just stupid
I'm younger, but over 50. I had no problem getting a new job - I had offers from two consultancies and one hyper scaler (AWS) when I decided I'd had enough.
So - look at your overall stress levels, and ask how much DXC's toxic culture is impacting your life outside DXC. This factor is the most important in deciding what you do next. In my case the DXC culture was having a significant effect on my home life, so I put in for voluntary WFR, got rejected for that twice, so I simply quit anyway - without having secured a new role. By the time I left, I had three offers and picked the one I liked most. My life has improved enormously in the year since I left.
However, if you're not getting stressed, if you're happy outside work, you have the potential for a good pension, and are generally relaxed, maybe it's not worth moving for 3 years. Or maybe early retirement is an option?

After more than 20 years at CSC/DXC I will start a new job at SAP in Oktober for the last seven years of my professional career :-)
Age discrimination is real, particularly in tech. Tread carefully.
How close to retirement is it a bad idea to look for a job change? There is never a bad time since DXC doesn't offer any pension options. It's just are you willing to work nights , weekends again (if your not already). For me it doesn't matter as I am on call 24 by 7 anyway
If you're over 40, B&Q are hiring
