Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Layers of inefficiency and Traxi time

Mike S says Chris Drumgoole is simplifying systems/layers in his new role.

Chris D said he has his listened to people and one of the main things his changing is reducing 18 time recording systems to 1 system.

Thats going to be one of his major measures of success, Well done if he can actually achieve this as his plan/communications isnt agreed by the middle management.

The reality is a Delivery Managers paddling in the opposite direction and are rolling out unnecessary new tasks all the time. One example of a new overhead is a time recording system which has being introduced called "Traxi".

At the time when Chris is spending company time/effort/and money developing 1 streamlined time recording system the delivery managers are also spending company time/effort/and money in the opposite direction developing Traxi. The delivery staff then have to spend endless amounts of time recording and filling in data. The amount of wasted effort by all the staff is incredible.

Mike and Chris think they running the company and are simplifying and making things efficient, but the middle management seemm to be running the company and introducing new bureaucracies all the time.

They have proven that they do not trust Chris/his strategy and that the new tool will not be good enough so they need to develop something extra.

Nothing is actually changing, things are getting worse, and Mike has little idea of what these oversized layers of middle management are doing tolook busy.

If Mike is actually running the company he needs to sreamline and simplify these empires so they dont have to invent tasks for the people delivering in order that they look busy.

Maybe Mike ought to make a few random open and honest direct MS teams calls to people on the ground and get some honest and direct feedback so he can find out whats actually going on, staff should be asked to provide 360 feedback for your manager so they can look at weaknesses and areas were the middle management layer needs to improve on.

Chris Drum gewel has disappointed, like the pay raises the goal post keep getting moved.

Has anyone got a new single time keeping system?

Has anyone received a dxc t shirt?

All promises on a town hall a long time ago, but as usual no delivery, with no further update.

If the delivery staff worked this way what would happen to the end customers?

Stop making false promises if your not going to deliver please.

Come on drumgoole when this new time system coming.

I'm sick of middle managers asking me to fill out their duplicate important systems to make them look busy.

If your going to be a while tell them to stop pestering me, we don't need all this duplication and waste.

We want to see No more waste - no more filling out of extra time systems shout it on the town halls emails Chris Drumgoole.

I have to fill out catw, traxi, another time recording, overtime pre approval, standby pre approval and more.

The managers just seem to get a buzz out of tracking you, micro managing you, and giving you duplicate time/approval systems to keep themselves and staff busy for no good value. This needs 6 to be made efficient.

When is this going to be streamlined and made into 1 system?

I can't believe that I was told they are still developing this "traxi" time recording system.

I wonder where the money/resources are coming from.

Chris drum you may as well give up , there's new systems out there being pushed ahead of your dream system.

It's "unsimplify dxc" people keep inventing duplicate process, that's about the best thing dxc managers are good at.

Whether the middle management like it or not I'm following drumgoole on this I'm not going to fill in this duplicate information anymore, got better things to do.

Chris Drumgoole doesn't know about this duplicate traxi system otherwise he would have put a stop to it. He said he has pulled the feed on another duplicate time system and his mission is working his way from 18 systems to 1.

This traxi is a system invented by a middle management layer, I'm sure he will eventually find about it but by then thousands of man hours will have been wasted.

This is what makes the company beuractic and non agile, laden with non productive process.

If I was looking to streamline the company I would make it priority to remove useless duplication.

"Why are you all bi-----g here, contact Chris Drumgoole directly and ask him why you all need to enter your time twice!"

Do you really think he cares?

Done an update, so painful. Had to prioritise it over customer work just so I don't get pulled up by my manager.

Anyone have a date for this new time recording system from Chris drumgoole is being rolled out?

Would save me a couple of hours every week/100 hours a year, that's about 3 weeks of duplicate input of useless entries.

I might put it on simplify dxc but scared for recrimination from managers above.

I've also just done an update, wasted so much time on this time logging system when I could be doing something useful.

We get reminded on every team call that traxi is so important and the manager above has mandated everyone must fill it out.

Takes priority over real work. Just hope this new one time system is ready, saves me wasting time and effort.

Just finished filling in more duplicate information into this duplicate re invented wheel of a system to keep the middle manager in a job. They will now create useless graphs and hold meetings about meetings about the input.

What a waste of everyone's resources when we could have been doing useful stuff.

Why have lots of time recording systems, one is sufficient, otherwise we may as well become a time/clock reseller or a graph/data analysis company.

Someone needs to get a grip on all this duplication and put it to a stop ASAP.

The challenge is implementing a new system that accommodates the needs of the entire organization is extremely complex. It's like finding a one size fits all for the entire range of sizes. No one is going to be entirely happy and many will be downright angry. It will take investment (which DXC doesn't do) and time to find and implement a solution. So in the interim the business needs to continue and management still needs reporting, so what happens? An enterprising middle manager finds an alternate solution that can meet the current needs. Yes it is most likely a throw away, but it is worth the cost to be able to do your job. Some examples from when I was there: Billability reporting - the corporate report was only generated monthly. Our business unit dealt with smaller engagements and needed weekly visibility into those numbers so we build our own reports with the raw data. Recruiting - when our attrition levels lead to a reversal of WFR activities into recruiting activities I asked what our applicant tracking system was. Not surprisingly I was greeted with blank stares. This company built custom applications to manage the WFR process but had no way to track applicants. So we built our own spreadsheet. Not very effective, but we had to get the job done. And finally, Time Entry - yes it is complex, but there is no excuse to still be on two different main systems at this point. I had one employee who had come from the HPE side of the house to work for our group who was from the CSC side of the house. He had to continue to add his time to the old system. This caused billing issues, bonus calculation issues, etc. When I asked why we couldn't just transfer him over I was told there was no way to do that except to terminate him at the end of one year and rehire him on the first day of the next year. Well if he was a super star I might tolerate the extra pain, but for just a normal contributor...guess who became a top candidate for the WFR list? This company is too big for it's own good. Break it up.

I can understand there's lots of diverse systems but what I don't understand is why are managers inventing this new traxi system when drumroll is developing a new system to replace all the systems into 1.

Cant the resources be used for developing something else which would be useful. Seems like some managers have too much time on their hands.

Just seems like "re inventing the wheel" again

Look at the number of legal entities; 13 pages. Can you Imagine the diversity of applications and procedures?

Its more like 18 acquisitions or mergers, and all of them coming with their own systems and processes. I can confirm we still use the same software for time keeping after many years being in "DXC"

Sounds to me that a company that allows 18 systems to get created in the first place has a bigger problem over the lack of Governance and direction.

They can't even provide a useful website so employees can quickly record their time, print out a pay stub, or do their performance review. But streaming news feeds that 99% of us couldn't care less about? They have that down pat!

Why are managers inventing and rolling out more time recording systems, this company is crazy.

So many g-n ho managers making their little empires and worlds.

This traxi time recording needs to be pulled ASAP. Unless we want to end up with 30 systems instead of 1.

The real question is what have the 2 senior executives tasks solely with simplification achieved? Absolutely nothing. On the contrary. Even their emails are fake! What a deception. Another deception. Misleading is what keeps this organization together. Escort these clowns to exit

Seems like the simplification plan isn't working, there's a big disparity between what the top want to achieve and what the other layers are doing and this "Traxi" is a good example of opposite direction, you wouldn't think they are all working in the same company.

Surprised Mike S hasn't sorted the layers and thier refusal to create more bureaucracy 2 years on.

He needs to identify the people creating this new system and pick up the phone to instruct them to start behaving, otherwise what he says and what happens are totally opposite.

How long has Chris been at DXC and what has the simplification program achieved to date? He's been here too long and achieved zip except for getting promoted. One of the simplification "wins" was the number of emails the simplification program had answered. He and Vinod are both wastes of space
