Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Do you think that's happening here too?

I recently talked to a friend from another company who told me that there are some people there faking coronavirus-related illnesses and abusing sick leave.
It was shocking to me.

Of course, as an employee I am always on the side of us employees, but I am also a legalist. Do you think things like that happen here too?

This company has no problem laying you all off to improve profit margins. No problem overworking and exploiting youz eff these companies and use that sick time COVID or not. (Just be mindful in case you actually get COVID). As much as corporations take from us, take a little something back for yourself.

As cr---y as it is to the people who haven't abused it, that's on them. It's also going to be on them if they actually get COVID, then don't have any paid time to use.

Just take the time now. I’m hearing that they are going to tie that 10-days of time off to proof you have been vaccinated. Meaning, if you aren’t vaccinated and get sick - it comes of your own bank of time

The company has literally laid people off sitting in the ICU bed, overworked them, and encouraged a hostile work environment for their benefit.

Why are you so preoccupied with what your coworkers do?

With kids going back to school and a variant that is immune to the vaccine in addition to people going back to the office and existed in shared spaces (bathroom, break room, fridge, cubicles, etc.) it is not at all shocking that people would actually call out for being sick.

I swear the worst part of working for Centene is having coworkers just like you. Looking for your coworkers flaws instead of addressing why you have so much time and energy to manage what they do with THEIR time.

People have been doing it with FMLA for years. You give folx an easy out like that and they're going to take it. Fortunately with many of these "workers" it really goes without notice because these types work below replacement level anyway or on a make-work team.

It's definitely happening, not just at Centene but at companies all across America.

Who cares, though? This company would fire you tomorrow without a second thought if it meant an extra $1000 in bonus money for the execs.

Loyalty is a great trait, but only if it's reciprocated, which it never will be at Centene.

I know for a fact these things are happening at Centene, but sorry HR, I’m not going to blow them in. Nice try.

I doubt it. There's a thing called KARMA and my mindset is if I fake it to take advantage, what happens if I really need it? But that's just me

If my son wasn't in school and unvaccinanted I would totally use up that COVID leave. Who cares how people use their sick time.

I would totally use up any free paid time off.. aka COVID time. Don’t be so loyal to a corporate company.
