Yesterday I had wonderful, delightful customers. They were a joy to wait on. However I paid dearly for my happy day. Today was a steady stream of true hatefulness from the public. Threatening me at every turn. One woman said she was going to have me arrested! Another demanded I increase her gift card cause there was no way the card was right. I truly need to get out of here. All my buddies have left . The only thing holding me back is I'm getting 13 a hour and at 64 ,as of this Thursday , I'm not going to find another job paying this wage at my age. We always had rude customers but now since we are now a clearance store all the goons have come in droves. I was hoping Belk would bite the bullet so I could claim unemployment for a few weeks but we will not die. Oh enjoy working Thanksgiving I know I will. Who needs family and friends.

There is no way that in 2021 a grown adult should be working for $8.25 an hour. Even in a rural area. If your 17 and just outta high school maybe, but not someone with years of experience. you can work at Wal Mart for $15 as a greeter. And if Belk is only paying $13 then go to wal mart, you can’t say that they have a Belk in your town but no wal mart, really??????? Amazon is hiring people over 50 too. GTFO.
@4rxr, not every area has all these choices. I personally know people who drives 45 minutes to work in smaller Belk store because there is NOTHING else besides fast food places around there. People looking for better jobs, don’t worry, and there is no need to call them “d-mb” if they didn’t get one yet. Do you really think they don’t know without you that there are better paying retailers?

You can apply for this low skilled jobs and choose who you gonna work while getting calls with offers every hour, people 50+ have different reality. So stop being condescending.
So many other retail jobs are paying more. Walmart will pay you more!
if you're 64 and you accept 8.25 or even $13 you are d-mb. Thats the reason companies won't pay seniors a living wage.
Can't afford dr-gs on 13 BUT it's sure better than the 8.25 I was making at dollar tree.
