Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

How many experienced abuse at Centene?

My experience at Centene was absolutely horrific (and I’ve worked for some pretty bad employers over the years that didn’t even reach this level, so I don’t think what I experienced can be expected everywhere). It actually felt like an abusive relationship. I’m curious how many others had similar experiences? Was my experience unusual or the norm at Centene?

Wow I wish we could say names lol,I absolutely agree. The "annoymys surveys " such a joke,my previous manager and her director gathered all the responses and sat there figuring out who wrote what.. Medicare is such a burn out your stuck with SO much work, they don't care about your wellbeing, as long as the work is done. What ever you do beware...

Was that in St. Louis? Similar to my experience.

The Director in our department had no, and I mean no, valid health insurance experience (a higher up that somehow wormed their way into Centene got her the position) and along with her minions she hired in, literally destroyed our department. The ones who were not let go in Feb this year are quitting in droves. Then after it was clear she let go of the wrong folks in Feb and it all started crumbling, she went back to the company she came from before they canned her / the minions. It was painful for those qualified folks that were let go because she saved her friend's jobs. It was even more painful to watch so much of what was good be left in ruins. It's a shame nobody who is in charge understands what she really did and that a dept that was the backbone of a product line is about to implode.

Had the most Director ever. Eventually she moved onto another health care company, but I never understood how call after call to HR and nothing was ever done. One big joke how they handle problem management.

This is why I always kept my criticism on those "confidential surveys" fairly professional and never out of line. I always ended it with some corporate BS about how Centene is a great company blah blah blah and I like working there but I've already applied for positions outside Centene so hopefully I won't have to suffer much longer.

It’s up to you to draw the line and walk away. Don’t trade your physical and mental health for a paycheck. You’ll eventually look back and wish you hadn’t wasted your valuable years being miserable. It’s a sobering thought to think of the years spent putting pressure on myself for a paycheck from a company that truly does not care.

I’m burned out and already deep in the interviewing process for two external roles at Centene competitors. Thank God.

Never take the “ confidential survey “ it was blasted what I put out there and the mental torture from my “ confidential survey” was beyond mental torture . Everything they did I didn’t let “ them” win. Nervous breakdowns , yes I have had several due to there retaliation. Sad really.. that the truth created he-l on Earth for me.

Had one terrible manager who stressed me out and my entire team. Got lucky. She left and her replacement is pretty chill.

I used up my PTO and quit as my leader was very bias.

I've heard horror stories of coworkers receiving horrible treatment from leadership that they suffered from nervous breakdowns. The last 2 were Black. Not sure if there was a racial component to it but I wouldn't be surprised. People are terrible.

Yes. That’s why I used all my sick time and PTO then quit. Got a better job with no stress/ burnout factor.
