Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Tuboscope is a sinking ship!!!

Who else feels like this company is dying a slow, miserable death? They’ve cut every business unit so deep, our operation teams can’t even run efficiently. This group of management is so dull and runs around with a bored approach towards everything they manage, I just feel like this place really has no future. I’ve never felt so uninspired to try and sell a product for my company as I have here. Just sad.

Wow! So you really don't have any! What a waste!

You really like it when people yell at you? You let people belittle you?

Coating plants filled up wit work but no coatings. New vp, directors and managars every week and we still can’t get a decent cost a living rase? They bring the boy over from Louisiana plant to help us out and don’t coat nothing just walk around hollerin at people. Again, no rase? Why don’t you take care of the rest of us? Come holler at me but don’t pay me?. I don’t think so.

Cut? Huge chunk of their losses we're from people quitting. Look at insp. eng. group. They brought in outside hire and lost a huge chunk of their group that just straight up quit.

Anyone that had the ability to leave that group already left. It's propped up now by the terrible management that earned their positions by 'being around longer than others' that refused to retire because they don't actually have to do anything or care, and then by the people unable to find a new job that show up and put in the minimum because if upper management has no goals or visions or anything they care to accomplish why should they?

What position would the company have to be in for you to be surprised?

When I went through the NextGen program, I worked with many business units within NOV, Tuboscope being one of them. The thing that stuck out to me the most about Tuboscope from the other groups was how much less Tuboscope seemed to be in line with the NOV footprint if you will, then other NOV business units. They seemed to run their business as a completely different company then other NOV organizations. While some may feel this would be an improvement, I would tend to disagree as the processes this group utilized were outdated and inefficient. The BU President back then was the current WB President and I do not know who runs the group now. I’m not surprised at all that the company is in the position it is in.
