Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I feel bad for recent hires

Some of them will make it here, true, but most are just being hired as fodder for the next major round of layoffs. They’ll be sacked when the company wants to get rid of the better paid, older employees but still make it seem like there was no age discrimination involved. I’ll bet you most will be gone within 18 months.

Yes. They can. In fact honeywell could survive with no employees by just licensing IP.
Honeywell could sell everything and survive on the asset interest.
There is little appetite today to actually make new things.

True, many grunts are hired and just left twiddling their thumbs. No meaningful onboarding process, no one left willing or able to mentor them. All but the chairwarmers rapidly get sick of the shyteshow and depart.

Leadership wants young employees thinking they have more energy and more willing to work around the clock. And what they really want are young contractors. Issue I see is there is very little training or mentoring and some just left in the dark to flounder. The flounders won't last long. They will realize they are wasting their time at Hon. Job market is good and they move on.

With zero training it is impossible to hire someone from the outside that can come in and just start working Hon processes. And there is a lack of qualified candidates that care to apply to Hon. Frequently seeing those laid off 6 months to a year ago basically being offered jobs and begged to come back. Just goes to show how clueless leadership is.

1) honeywell, at least phx, doesnt recruit top talent. At one point we were even directed to avoid making offets to students with good GPAs.

2) after so many layoffs, who exactly is not top talent around here?

3) name when the last new successful core launched that was not just a derivative of something designed 20-40 years ago?

4) why do we keep calling those laid off begging them to come back if we are the best people?

I don't see what you do. Hiring talent is tough but new folk are strong and many since last rif have reached e2 already. Given no pension and only marginal benefits honeywell should be a revolving door. This is by design. We are moving back to the world where top talent gets deals that have nothing to do with average Joe experience. If you aren't getting retention adjustments you are not top talent in mgt eyes...or perhaps you are just old and considered low risk.
