Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

RTO on hold at the last minute

How pathetic is our management? Absolutely ZERO 'leadership' skills or human decency. You wait until the afternoon before the long weekend to put your nonsense plan on pause and ONLY because the province did a U-turn.

How can you ever stand before employees and tell us safety if your number one priority? You are so detached from reality, that you FAILED to do the right thing. The plan should have been cancelled weeks ago.

This kind of leadership will SINK this company. Get off your high horses and lead with humanity, integrity and compassion. Alberta entered the 4th wave weeks ago, why does IOL management with all the 'smart' folks it employs, could not cancel this incredibly irresponsible plan weeks ago?

You have lost credibility AGAIN.

I feel fine in the office. I was pretty impressed with the safety protocols. However, I wouldn't want to force people back. Should be optional and respectful of everyone's risk tolerances.

The only reason for the change was because of the Alberta govt changing their stance. The protection measures in the office are quite robust and we have had limited cases of COVID in the office. The vast majority of cases are related to community spread.

We have to keep the RTO team employed. For many team members this is all that they do. Do you realize how challenging a task it is to copy paste from public affairs communique and disseminate that information within the department?? Such is the absyml level of staff competency that we have. As some one said, the inmates are running the asylum.

@@2jfy+1cGJ81Oo that is the problem, they acted only because the city did. What happened to us being the leader in safety standards? QP has no windows!! Having over 500 people (I'm being conservative due to the excessive PIPS) on site with no windows in the middle of the worst pandemic in modern history sounds like a d-mb idea. And I'm sorry to say it but this is NOT the wild wild west in Texas! This is Canada!!!

In all fairness, they had to act after the city of Calgary announced the last minute restrictions. However, I did question the hard stance they were taking on RTO given that the numbers were climbing.

If you die, they save on severance and pension costs.
