Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

They take advantage of people not having better options

I don't know how much work you did here, but at one point I thought I would just go crazy, get sick of all the stress or give notice. I was overwhelmed with enough work for three people, without any exaggeration. It went on like that for a while.

It’s behind me now, but it’s interesting to me that Xerox didn’t care if I would give notice at some point or who would finish the job if I left. They still count on people staying because we don’t have better options?

“If your career started entry level today you'd have zero chance to walk out a millionaire”. - Today, there are two people starting an entry level career. One thinks the way I do, and one thinks the way You do. They’re both right. One owns their professional and financial path and will succeed regardless of obstacles, the other with limited self-deprecating thoughts will fail. You can continue to believe the way you do and live with consequences or wake up and do something about it. I wish you the best!

Ok Boomer, enough with the bootstraps talk. If your career started entry level today you'd have zero chance to walk out a millionaire. Your succes has as much to do with luck and timing as any amazing training you think you did.

Curious, how many of you have taken advantage of tuition reimbursement? My career at Xerox was phenomenal because I personally owned my skills and I never stopped learning. I took full advantage of tuition reimbursement. I started my Xerox career at minimum wage and just retired a millionaire because I personally owned my professional growth. To this day, I’m reinventing myself for a new post-Xerox second career. - If you’re not moving forward then you’re moving backwards. If anyone is stuck without options, look in the mirror for blame. If you don’t have marketable skills, who else is to blame other than yourself? Stop making excuses and own your future. It’s never too late. - Those who tap the up arrow in agreement have unlimited potential, those who hit the down arrow prove my point.

Well if enough employees ban together, it will make a difference. That's why they form unions. In this case, Xerox is obsolete. If you want to have options, learn new skills. See what other Employers are looking for. I bet Xerox management are also looking to jump ship as well but of course, they still have to convince employees it's still a great company to work for.

Always the Employee is Accountable. Never the Employer. If you did something wrong of course your accountable. But you can’t milk people to death and expect them to just take it and be happy. Then hold them accountable.
People are tired of doing 3 peoples jobs into infinity. That’s why people have left Xerox in high numbers.
Can you say mass exodus? People don’t want to be treated like cattle. This is Not a Good place to be involved in anymore. It’s a Toxic environment that no one deserves. Just my opinion. I truly believe this whole mentality is a Huge mistake and will prove to be so.

I promise you... if you do not have any better options, that's not on your employer in any way.
They didn't kidnap you and force you to work there. You chose to work there.

Also, successful companies don't allow employees to hold them hostage as a general rule. So yeah, in that sense, they don't care if you give notice. They'll post the job and someone else will take it. It's just business.

Xerox does not care. Management is absolutely clueless. Stress can be unreal with the deer in headlights stare from management. People are not exaggerating about this company. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would not recommend this company for All the tea in China. Especially how things are now.
