I wonder if it’s a good idea to ask for a raise if I want to keep my job here? The air is thick and I'm afraid of becoming a target or losing my job if I do so. Does anyone have any advice? I would love for someone to share their experience if they have recently asked for a raise.

Just have your reasons together to go over with your boss. But don’t get your hopes up.
I’m just waiting for the bonus and then looking. Oil and gas is hiring all over and paying more than here. I bet a lot of us leave after the new year.
If you have data that supports a raise, and you can present it in a way that doesn't come across as an ultimatum, I'd suggest making the case to your boss and see what happens.
