Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

It's sad......

It is sad to work in a company where almost no one has anything nice to say and where everyone is looking to get out as soon as possible and find better opportunities. Recently I spoke to a colleague who is also leaving, we tried to recall any positive things that made this place bearable to work. Unfortunately, that was a mission impossible. It seems that good things about Allstate can only be found if we dive into the already distant past?

The following list contains the 11 WORST insurance companies in America:

  1. Allstate.

The AAJ list explains that even the CEO of this company admits that Allstate’s loyalty does not lie with its customers. CEO Thomas Wilson states that Allstate’s “obligation is to earn a return for our shareholders.” Documents they had to make public show that while they boast “good hands” in ads, they encourage their employees to fight against their own policyholders.

The AAJ says this of Allstate, “The company essentially uses a combination of lowball offers and hardball litigation.” To illustrate just how much money this company is making off its tactics, Wilson received more than $16,300,000 in compensation in 2019, while many injured claimants received far less than they deserved or nothing at all.

Allstate has also faced criticism for using highly confusing policy language that leads policyholders to believe they have certain coverage when, in reality, they receive a denial of their claims. Critics suggest that the company wants to collect premiums from policyholders who assume they have comprehensive coverage, only to have no recourse when disaster strikes.

All of this has earned Allstate the title of the worst insurance company.

I see the HR shills are out in force.

If you believe you can overwork your employees while fostering a toxic work environment, and remain profitable for long, you might just be Allstate upper management.

My department keeps losing people and they haven't been replaced. What happens when there's no one let to work claims, which is where it's heading?

Is Glenn going to work claims himself???

@duq+1cELu1bQ at the end of the day, every company exists to generate profit and will operate as such.

Places with a "good" work culture remain that way so long as the company is profitable and functional, but it's amazing how quickly that'll change in times of losses or struggle. Seen it at past employers, it's never pleasant.

That is why "at will employment" is so great, if the company culture changes, you can leave freely for a new role somewhere else with a better culture.

Eventually, to attract talent, companies with bad culture will have to adapt or die, most will die, and you don't want to be on the sinking ship.

The last post was delusional accusing the OP of being a millennial. I take it your old school and a baby boomer. That's fine. I have nothing against boomers, but my friend you are way behind on the times. Things have changed. It's not 1978 anymore. There are jobs and companies where working conditions are good. It's not a crime to want to like your job

Wouldn’t it be funny if the role was reversed where a website focus was “resignations” instead of “layoffs”? Tommy would post nasty stuff about employees resigning and leaving him in chaos, “unfairly” so…

It is sad, but there is a better life beyond Allstate. Many people say that's just corporate america, but that's not the case. Take a leap of faith and do better for yourself. And whatever you do, don't define yourself by the abusive behaviour and gaslighting of this company. There was a time they hired compassionate people who had the ability to empathise with the customer and shepard them through their time of need. That was/is delivering on the promise. Now there is no promise. Only some BS inefficient processes, unreasonable oversight metrics and an irresponsible level of corporate greed. I guess it's ok, because now they actually advertise not being an insurance company. The singular focus on technology and analytics will brings this place to it's knees. You and all others like you deserve so much better.
