Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Sales are through the floor….

It used to be we cancelled vehicles that sold less than 10,000 per month. Any guesses on what one time accounting miracle will pull Q3 earnings out of the dumpster fire?

Ford Motor Co. reported August total vehicle sales that dropped by one-third from a year ago, with sharp declines in all types of vehicles, although electric vehicles sales jumped by two-thirds to a new August record. The automaker's stock was little changed in morning trading. Total sales were 124,176 vehicles, down 33.1% from a year ago, as trucks sales dropped 29.4%, SUV sales fell 25.3% and car sales slid 86.0%. Within trucks, F-Series sales fell 22.5% to 57,321 vehicles. Meanwhile, electrified vehicle sales rose 67.3% to 8,756 vehicles. Reservations for Ford's full electric F-150 Lightning truck surpassed 130,000 vehicles. On a monthly basis, Ford said August retail sales increased 6.5% from July, with F-Series retail sales growing 11% to mark the best F-Series sales month since the chip shortage began. Ford's stock has dropped 12.1% over the past three months through Wednesday, while the S&P 500 SPX, 0.20% has gained 7.9%.

Vehicle lines don’t step up, customers do. When we make unreliable and unsafe (recent seat belt issue for F-150) customers move to other more reliable brands. We continue to dilute product offerings and diminish the value of the Ford brand name. Shameful management performance as they drive the company to be a data company utilizing unwanted and unpopular EV platforms.

Keep recalling all the new platforms might have something to do with customers who don’t want junk:

Ford Bronco Sport previously recalled over inadequate lubrication in the rear drive unit, incorrect lower control arms, and loose or missing suspension bolts, the Bronco Sport further needs replacement fuel delivery modules. But how come?

Tier 2 supplier Bosch notified the Ford Motor Company on July 20th of an issue regarding the fuel delivery module, pointing the finger at Tier 3 supplier Fraenkische. This company shipped a faulty component to Bosch, and that faulty component was subsequently installed in the FDM by Bosch.

The fuel tube may leak inside the fuel tank, causing low fuel pressure in the system, therefore leading to stalling or a non-starting engine due to insufficient fuel. An unexpected stall while driving may increase the risk of a crash, hence the “safety” in the safety recall. Ford isn’t aware of accidents or injuries related to this condition, but nevertheless, the Blue Oval has to repair 10,802 units of the Bronco Sport at no charge to the customers.

Vehicles produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico between May 21st and July 20th are called back, along with Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles produced at the Louisville Assembly Plant from May 6th through May 25th. For a reason that I simply don’t understand, the Ford Motor Company doesn’t mention which engine or engines are affected. Thankfully, the Dearborn-based automaker does mention two part numbers - one for the Escape and Corsair and the other for the Bronco - for FDMs designed specifically for the 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder turbo motor.
Often criticized for excessive vibrations and loud operation in comparison to the 2.0-liter EcoBoost, the smaller powerplant makes do with 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet (258 Nm) of torque. As far as the Bronco Sport is concerned, the four-p-t Badlands is the one to get because you get water cooling instead of ducted air cooling for the power take-off unit in addition to Advanced 4x4 in the guise of a twin-clutch rear drive module

22% reduction in F-Series sales that is pretty drastic.. Need the other vehicle liens to step up. You cannot count electric F150 yet until they are sold. 33% overall drop is not good.

If ford announces that all of employees will be required to come back to the office by October 1, and any employees who refuse to be back to the office by the above date will be fired immediately, the Ford stock and sales will skyrocket. Otherwise, we will see Ford sliding continuously...
