How are there still people who believe Ford is a great company and a great place to work? People who believe they're safe from layoffs despite all the previous rounds pointing to the contrary? It's not the worst place to work, I'll give you that but come on folks. If at this point you believe you have job security and you end up unprepared when you're laid off, you deserve whatever's coming your way.

Haha you all act entitled to a job. If you work in IT we have known for a long time to expect layoffs at any company because of outsourcing, a contract finished and the job is done, or the company is not doing well it happens.
Then throw in that this is the auto industry where layoffs are pretty frequent.
Stop being entitled to a job and be sore about losing a job.
Ford is ok to work for, i admit the culture in some aspects are going somewhere stupid or where change should occur there is alot of resistance.
@4chf+1cDXDG1l
I don't know what your job is, but instead of your rant you should try and point out where the commenters here are falsifying.
In my opinion, all that you call "badmouthing", is people sharing their experiences as the previous commenter said and almost all of it is 100% true. You can call it all you want but the only question is - is it true or false? And the issue is that you know in your heart that all those shared experiences about Ford are nothing but the truth.
Good luck man/woman!
@4chf+1cDXDG1l Cracks me up. Swearing, attempting to belittling others what does that resemble, oh yeah Ford management and management wannabes. LMAO
I really doubt people are trying to “do” anything to Ford. They are posting their Ford experiences. @4chf+1cDXDG1l post resembles fear talking, with a bit of swagger thrown in to distract from the underlying desperation.
Ford has been doing a mighty fine job of sinking itself. Actions and results speak for themselves. Most people have noted the press releases are just hype.
Its funny some of you jokers think that just by wishing Ford the worst, telling a couple of interns or FCGs not to continue at Ford, or by otherwise badmouthing Ford, you can hurt Ford.
Well, NEWSFLASH - you cant do $hit to Ford.
@2sns+1cDXDG1l realistically don’t think Ford going belly up would have that much of an impact on the regions economy.
Firstly Ford’s assets would be acquired by another company, for example VW. The acquiring company will do what Ford has been unwilling to do - eliminate the ineffective management, eliminate all the dead weight and redundancy, so yes a lot of people who are being paid by Ford ( I won’t say they are working for Ford), will be without a paycheck.
Secondly Ford is aggressively shipping its white collar work to Ford of India, the NA white collar workforce is heavy H1B. So the actual # of white collar workers (let’s exclude LL*, PMs, admins and other non-value add positions) is small and continues to shrink - that population could work remotely for another company or leave the area.
Thirdly Ford has fallen deeply into the dishonesty trap. For some reason they think they can be deceptive and have no consequences. That is a short term game as you can’t buy your reputation. And No not every company lies to their employees / retirees / customers / investors.
What do I wish for Ford? That they find true north on their moral compass and act accordingly, that they focus on building safe, reliable, affordable vehicles, that they focus on true profits not creative accounting, that they value engineers more than lawyers and paper pushers, that they cease their continual self promotion and false narratives in the press.
If they can’t straighten up and fly right, there will be a day when they can’t make payroll.
It will be sad, but it won’t devastate SE Michigan. That has already been done by the big 3.
Many agree that Ford is no longer a great company to work for but why would you wish the worst for them. They laid me off as well in spite of being a high performer but I still want them to do well as I have many friends who work there. In addition there are so many in this area who work for Ford that it would be devastating for the area’s economy if they went belly up.

Waa, Waaa, sniffle, sniffle....
Lots of people, me included, have been laid of in the course of their careers.
As for the patents, you got paid $1000 for your patent submission if approved by OGC. If the US patent office granted it, you received another good pay day depending on the application and use. They also give out plaques. I have several myself.
Finally, who told you that you would have a job for life? If you really believed that, you are the poor soul who is delusional.
So first things first- I wish the worst for Ford. Why? Because they laid me off despite of being the best performer in my RWG year after year, every year, and despite of making ATLEAST 50 million dollars for the company with patents; in the last 10 years at work.
NOW - about you guys - You guys are so delusional about the realities of life that, I wish that you work for no other company in your life, other than Ford. You deserve nothing better than a Ford. Good luck staying delusional.

Companies do not pay to get on most of these lists. I'm sure that they have no shortage of applicants looking to work for them regardless of public opinion.
If you took to time to do the research your posts would be more accurate.
"How to Get on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® List"
https://www.greatplacetowork.com/resources/blog/how-to-get-on-the-fortune-100-best-list
Uh @1swb+1cDXDG1l you do realize that Ford pays a fee to be listed on those best company lists, like the most ethical etc. ???
In case you don’t know how it works, the organizations that create these lists send a survey pack to Ford to fill out. There is a processing fee and another box that Ford checks which says Yes I have included a check so that Ford can claim/advertise it is the one of the best (at whatever the survey is for), and in addition please advertise that Ford is one of the best at XYZ. Fees are 10K+ It’s a scam just like getting yourself listed in Who’s Who for a fee - everyone who pays a fee is listed, no one who doesn’t pay a fee is listed.
Haven’t you ever wondered how Ford could simultaneously being sued right and left for soxual harassment, and discrimination and receive a best place for women to work award. Time for a little bit of T H I N K I N G.
@1lfh+1cDXDG1l - "Hackett ... You may also notice the stock price never changed while he was in charge."
No, it did change... it was a long continual downward slide. That would be forgivable if he actually did anything that would result in an improved company down the road instead of focusing on immediate stock valuations. But nope, he just sat on the p-t for years doing nothing but babbling away trying to sound like a "deep thinker". Sorry, Jimmy, but a true deep thinker can boil things down to pure essence so they can be understood by the Everyman.
Good riddance to bad trash.
In what universe does anyone think they are safe from layoffs?
News flash, any and all companies will fire employees in times of financial distress.
It is about the preservation of the corporation, not the gainful employment of the employee'.
Unions get hacked also. Do you remember what happened in the 1970's from the gas crisis and more recently in 2008?

There are more lists and Ford ranks pretty high on all of them.
If you are that unhappy, find another job.
Hackett sold a vision to Bill that he could transform the world and Ford would lead the world transformation. All based on philosophy and hope, not a drop of realism.
I do miss the hilarity of decoding the Hackett emails. Oh to be Huddled again.
Was/Is Bill gullible, most certainly. Was/Is the BoD complicit, most certainly. Was/Is Ford “leadership” LL5+ complicit, most certainly.
Instead of coming up with concrete achievable realistic plans, money was/is flying out the windows and pigs were/are lining up at the troughs. Then to mitigate the problems they caused they chop headcount based on short term savings.
We can all shake our heads at the Hackett years, but really what has actually changed other than the personality of the current figure head? and the current distractions being served up?
The litmus test is how the least of us is being treated.
Sure Hackett shed crocodile tears about the treatment of women in Chicago plants AFTER the 2017 NYtimes expose. Yet the behavior was an open secret since 1990s. The leadership team looked/looks the other way. Many of those looking the other way were then upset when they were on the receiving end of Hacketts/BCG age discrimination plan. What goes around, comes around.
Now a select few POC are given the illusion of advancement. Yet the POC women Hackett shed crocodile tears for continue to be treated badly. And of course the behavior is not isolated to that one location. Should be a heads up for POC.
So sad the company has slid to what it is. But it has been a long downward slide, with only one brief glimmer of hope (Mulally). Hard to say how long Ford will be able dip the apple with the rotten core into carmel sauce.
There was a time when Ford was in the top three companies to work for in the United States. But after Nassar came in that is when Ford started to spiral downward. Yes when Allan was in charge things look steady but after Hackett came in and the recent string of emails regarding the age discrimination suit there is no trust of the senior management.
Hackett is no angel just ask the 11k employees he let go at Steelcase. BTW Most of those jobs went south of the border. You may also notice the stock price never changed while he was in charge. Then you have Billy who drops all kinds of company funds into a train station just so he can leave a legacy for himself. Guy was fired by his own family once before. If you or I spent that money on that station we would be fired. Top it off they pay that clown BUDDY HACKETT multi million dollar bonuses similar to Allan. Mr. Hackett you could not even tie Allan's shoes same goes for you Billy. Morale is bad. Young people are starting to look outside Ford. Sales are down 33% F-series 22% for the month of August. It will get very ugly. The worst is yet to come.
Working for Ford is like feeling traumatic everyday, like Woody Harelson from that movie Indecent Proposal. Ford basically says "We The Ford will insult you the employee, mistreat you and maybe touch your wife a little when we feel like, but hey, the money/pension is good haan!"
As earlier commenter said, money is the only thing good about this company. If not for pension, my husbands great job and to be honest if I had a little more self esteem in me, I would be looooong gone.
Felt lucky to land a job with Ford in 1996. The pay check was good and I was promoted twice but a series of terrible incidents with lazy scared managers, a bad vice president, and a do-nothing member of the Ford family has really soured me. Other than the money it seems like a waste. This top 10 song is kind of how a feel about Ford --
Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere, I would've followed you
I wondered the same thing when I worked at Ford from 2001-2007. As a salaried engineer fresh out of college, it only took me a couple of months to realize that our sole purpose was to crank out units to support the uneducated UAW drunks. I would have left sooner, but I was able to hang around and get a free MBA from Michigan to set myself up for a better career elsewhere. I didn’t have a single day where I felt like Ford was a good place to work. The grass was/is much greener and leaving Ford was the best decision I ever made.
Ditto below.
You can always make more money but you cannot buy more time.
The change in pension check is not worth gambling with your health because you are not guaranteed tomorrow. It is an illusion that money is provides a long and happy retirement. It's a state of mind that brings contentment.
There are also people who still think Ford stock still pays a dividend.
Sickntired, be careful with the “I’ll just work one more year syndrome”.
Four of my colleagues who were in that situation sadly passed in the last year.
One passed away this month after having decided to decline on the VSSP, so he would have slightly bigger pension checks. Very sad.
Focus on your health and get out if you can.
Many like me are now just putting in our time before retirement, although it is getting harder to do so. May have to just suck it up and take an early retirement. My health will probably thank me in the long run.
