Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Prepare for influx of applications

Watch the employee shortage magically disappear when the federal government unemployment benefits are over. I don't blame people for taking advantage of that, to be honest. But I'm guaranteeing you that it was the main reason why so many places had so much trouble hiring.

It’s not the reason, the reason is people can’t afford to work for Macy’s when the McDonald down the street pays $3 more an hour. Yes that’s how pathetic an sad Macy’s is.

You mean because places like Macy’s are slave labor? Hahaha no one wants to work with you fools. Doing 3 jobs for $11 an hour - pathetic. All while ceo sc-m bag makes over 500 times what the average employee at Macy’s makes. It’s actually the worst ratio in all of retail - you work for a sh-t company.

Macy's pays nothing and wants you to do everything. They don't even pay $15 which is the bare bottom of the wages around here (everyone is paying $18+). I think last I checked they wanted to start folks out at $9.75. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

You have no idea what you are talking about - and it shows. States have that already ended it have shown NO INCREASE in applicants.

Get it through your thick head nobody is working for po----y level wages to be treated like cr-p anymore.

You have Wawa hiring at $13 hour to start which isn't great, but in some cases more than what Macy's offers. Target also starting at $15 and hour (and Walmart) from what i've seen in NJ. Target has newer stores and from the looks of it much less stress, at least for retail. I see the way a lot of people are treated in the stores, from my 3rd party vendor view and not always good. I would apply for a Logistics warehouse location or Analyst job if you have the qualifications and see if WFH is an option before any store.

And our CA store wasn't able to hire anyone even seasonal before pandemic hit! Other retailers offering as much or more than $5.00 an hour than Macy's.

Until Macy’s start paying their colleagues more per hour they will not be anymore people applying now! There are many more jobs to do out there that pay more money, a lot less work, and a lot less stressful!
