Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Unreasonable workload

I visit this forum often and a lot has been written here about unreasonable workloads and high expectations at Allstate. However, no one talked about how they deal with so much work? I mean, the real solution is to find a new job, but in the meantime, how do you keep up with crazy amounts of work without burning out?

We all have a choice. Why would you stay somewhere you are so miserable in. Move on.

I disagree with poster below. It hasnt been a good place to work since Tom Wilson became CEO back in 2004-5. its just been declining more and more since then

Take it day by day , claim by claim . It’s insane with the phones ringing nonstop. They keep promising us that help is on the way as they try to hire more people back to replace those experienced adjusters laid off or who quit due to long , stressful hours. It used to be a great place to work before the layoffs last year . Now it’s just pure chaos trying to deal with angry customers who’s claims are delayed due to less staff. Transformative growth failed as predicted.

You put out fires each day as you come up and maybe, if you're lucky, you can work a little ahead. You can't be proactive, just reactive. Just make the best of it and do what you can each day. There doesn't seem to be any real consequences for doing the bare minimum, and not too much extra compensation for performing above expected.

My workload had been significantly more manageable since being remote

We work 10-12 hours per day, cut corners where we can, and push ourselves to the point of exhaustion. Allstate wants us to quit ASAP so they can hire more offshore. That is an undisputed fact. We are so burnt out we don’t have energy to look for a new job. Some of us have and are gone. We know that another lay off is coming so most of the boomers who have been here awhile are motivated by the severance to stick it out as long as they can. It’s brutal. Allstate management piles on work now that we are all trapped at home. They took total advantage of that. They’ve cut so many corners on labor. They are ruthless. It’s day by day for most of us on the front lines. 10-12 hours per day is not sustainable as an adjuster. Plus the training is total self service but you have no time. You work on PTO. Your phone rings constantly and if you don’t answer it there are consequences. So you cope. You hope for a lay off and look for another job at the same time. That’s what keeps you going. Or if you are a boomer, you are just waiting to retire in a year or two. Biggest joke to be motivated by a layoff as a coping mechanism.
