Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

Don't tell HCL anything about how to run your department.

The coworkers that have had interviews with HCL already have said they've asked more questions on how to run our department more than any questions about their qualifications. They're looking for how to run the place without us.

Don't tell them anything. If you do, make it vague or totally wrong. Let your conscious decide.

They're going to bring in know-nothings on the cheap and they want all this info so they can hit the ground running. Don't make it easy for them.

"Be very careful on what you choose not to tell. IT is a small industry and people will remember how you left, especially those left behind in their current roles."

Not true at all. Are you a stupidvisor? There is no permanent record! It wasn't true in elementary school and it isn't true now.

You should share what you know though because they are going to need all of the help they can get when all the RIFs are gone. It's the Christian thing to do.

@Ibue+1cAlWIoj - Of course ticket times are down, it's my understanding that HCL is closing INCs as soon as they have CHGs opened to do the work. It goes against ITIL best practices but hey Acesension Tech leadership can crow about increased satisfaction and reduced closed ticket times.

These outsourcing deals go in waves. Eventually, leadership on the clinical side will get tired of HCL's, Tech M's, etc. fu----g things up and they will can Gerry and his underlings who will all float to the ground under their golden parachutes. The slow process of bringing the work back in-house will begin. But by that time, all the new, expensive equipment, the private super fast WAN between data centers, and the migration to the Google cloud will be complete and paid for using savings from having third world contractors do the work. What comes around, goes around.

Management is trying to spin this outsourcing as a strategic partnership when it is only about the money and corporate bonuses. Have not been impressed and calls may be down out of frustration. It will hit the fan when vaccine mandates and full HLC takeover happens the same weekend in November.

I will be astounded if this doesn't blow up in Ascension's face in the next year or so.
Every team I've spoken with that's had to deal with HCL (since the server/Citrix teams were transitioned over) has had the exact same experience I've had. Incompetence, indifference, and complete inability to resolve tickets. They get shuffled around to 3, 4, 5 different teams, and never resolved.
We were all d-mbfounded when management was claiming that customer satisfaction was up and ticket times were down since we outsourced. I (and everyone I've spoken with) have seen exactly the opposite. Now we know why.

The people who work at TechM and HCL isn't the problem. Ascension made the decision to gice them the work and the HCL people that replaced last years crew were nice.

From my layoff experience, you could give the Indian the key to the kingdom and they would still have zero idea what to do with it or how to do build.

No need to even go that far. You can tell them all you know it’s still not going to help. So tell them they’re still hiring cr---y people to do the work. HCL is a joke…Ascension will regret the moves they have made just watch.

Love it when Ascension PR posts on here about work ethics and helping the new company take over. Really? Where is the compassion and caring ministry they promote in corporate when good people with years of experience are dumped? Can you not understand you have hurt your own people and they are angry?

That’s poor character and overall sh-t work ethics. I see why you were not on the call urself and your boss must know 2

bosses had to reapply for their own job in the past couple of years, if u didn’t know go ask them.

I remember when the server team was scaled to a AHNAT level and they started to see how many of those guys were riding on the lazy river. Many of them were being paid for nothing and either didn’t know or refused to help troubleshoot or get things done.

I will never forget the day i had to reach out to another server engineer from another state to help me with an issue and this was prior to them going AHNAT!!! I miss the guys I worked with but the rest had to go.

Bad form! Although it sucks what Ascension is doing to their IT employees, tell them what you know. I've seen that kind of thing come around and bite a person in their rear end down the road...

Be very careful on what you choose not to tell. IT is a small industry and people will remember how you left, especially those left behind in their current roles. I’ve been in this situation several times (CSC, TCS, and Accenture) and the best course is to give them what you’re looking for while searching for another position. You’d be surprised how many hiring managers were in the exact same position you are at one point and will appreciate your story when it comes time to make a hiring decision. Good luck to you!

My advice to anyone who is planning on moving on to another employer AND getting your severance package: Be very careful about how you go about not telling HCL anything about how you do your job. If Ascension thinks that you are sandbagging them, they will terminate you on the spot and you will not get your severance package. Think about it.
