Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Goodbye IT Security......

I hear they are all gone today, 7/30 - with the exception of a few. Even the mgr was not spared. Fortunately for them, they were given a 30 day notice instead of being walked out. Surely you saw the writing on the wall?

NAILED IT!

WIN is now just a board, executives, some directors and managers.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop, it doesn't sound good for a staff
employee.

A shell company remains, so IT isnt really needed. What employees are they there for? Customers are sold services thru channel partners. Project management being outsourced. Field tech to complete install outsourced. Customer service outsourced. NOC teams monitoring network outsourced. Repair teams outsourced. Customers no longer speak to any windstream employees at any point. What customer in their right mind would sign up for sub par service to deal with a bunch of outsourced teams. This is why your service stays down for days or weeks at a time, nobody is left to care about the company and the customers.

And, yet again, management could come out and address this layoff head-on.

But, like all the rest, they just pretend it never happened.

So every other group in this company gets cut - laid off - but Security gets 'reassigned' ? Honey, you may be temporarily reassigned, but the end of the road is near for you too.

LOL - yes, reassigned to the unemployment line. Funny stuff.

Security wasn't outsourced, it was reassigned.

@Been there - Done that

Red team is offensive
Blue team is defense

When you outsource security we are in real trouble. I wonder if this was a blow to our CTO for failing to defend our infrastructure and causing a ransomware attack

You won't be hearing from that clown, as his mgr (that was telling him those lies) was let go a while back. I guess there IS an entity in heaven....LOL. Plus, maybe that clown was already let go too. What exactly are 'red' and 'blue' teams?

Hmmmm....I'm still waiting on the clown from Twinsburg to pop on here to say his manager told him 'everything will be ok' and their jobs are safe.

Maybe its even worse than we thought, they immediately let go the Blue Team, but they gave 30-days to the Red Team.

Heard a rumor there that Thursday was a RIF day. We’re there any other layoffs besides IT Security?

A 30 day notice is the LAST thing you do for a security team. Way to blow making another important decision.

The place is pathetic.

Yes. Tell the people responsible for security that they are being let go, and let them continue to work for another month. Nothing bad could come from a decision like this, right?

I mean, no extra user accounts, admin accounts, scheduled scripts..... No, nothing like that could ever happen.

Hmmm…that doesn’t sound like something a software powerhouse would do.
