With all the cuts, all the promotions based on anything but merit, all the micromanagement and constantly deteriorating culture I'm having problems staying motivated. If my hard work will bring me nothing else but more work, then why should I bother doing anything but the minimum?

Sad but true .. this the new norm now in Anthem. Just do what is expected of you and nothing more.
This started way before Gail
More work is guaranteed at this place!
The only reason I continue to work at my normal high level is so that it won't be a shock to the system when I get riffed and go to work for another company that will hopefully appreciate my efforts and contributions more than the management at Anthem ever have. In other words, I am working for my future, not Anthem's. I have reduced the amount of overtime I am willing to contribute since all of the rifs started.
Unfortunately this is the culture the new leadership under Gail have created. I can tell you first hand no matter how above and beyond you go, if they want to eliminate your position, they will. If you worked hard with many extra hours, raising your hand, always being there, they can still choose to sc--w you on bonus (or your entire job) to make room for a more top-heavy organization.
Exactly. That is the mindset of a lot of people. Bare Minimum - just enough to keep you employed until you get RIF'd.
I agree 110%. Why bother
