Say what you want about JC operationally but that guy truly cares about his people. I only worked for him for a few months after a realignment and I haven’t worked for Follett for several years and he still reaches out to me to see how I’m doing.

JH showed her true colors again. What a coward.

I’m glad somebody showed up for the meeting from home office. He’s better than nothing.

The only home office person at the ND meeting for staff was JC. Managers had their meeting first, then the staff.

I heard through a another manager that JH did not even show up to the announcement to the Follett ND team, that worked tirelessly for ND over the life of this contract. Can someone confirm? I would not be surprised as I have not heard from her, or my GVP, in about a year.

ASU expanded operations picking up Athletics. I have no details on ND but if their contract demands were too high I have no problem not renewing. They think they are high and mighty so let BN deal with that. Follett should focus on profitable contracts and did pick up several sizable operations.

I don’t know about ASU but the Group VP also has USC and they’re on the verge of dropping us.

JC is Group VP but he is retiring around August. DW was RM but left around April to work at Fanatics. Fanatics and Lids were both mentioned in B&N’s press release as partners in the ND takeover. Follett got played. B&N appear to be fighting hard for contracts both big and small.

ASU has a good director and leadership team but the regional manager and group Vice President will lose that contract in due time. Our campus contact there cannot stand the group Vice President and thinks he’s professionally lazy.

Sorry, I don't think SZ is going anywhere. JC is retiring and his regions are probably being split up. I heard the region that left SZ last year is going back to her. I think JC used to have ND, but I'm not positive.

I left this damn company over 7 years ago, but sometimes I just like to check in on this board to say:

Ha ha ha.

Arizona State? Yeah, Follett still has that contract. I've never been to that store but I've seen several photos of it. Everything about that store looks like it could easily be a Walmart. I keep expecting to one day see an actual grocery section.

I guess we’d all better cut down our QTC’s to avoid overbuying—we lost millions of dollars with ND and every penny counts. NOT!

I saw that there will be a big group/region realignment next month. It looked like the new GVP is taking all of the northeast and Canada and I'm guessing SZ goes bye-bye because of that. But not too sure.

I thought SZ was gvp for that region?

If you haven’t noticed the RM and GVP have been replaced. Not accidental I assume.

Side note, but what does JH do all day, aside from writing congratulatory letters to people getting promotions in this miserable organization?

They had an RM manage Stanford to bring it back. Loyola, ND, Ill state, they're flowing out like water, and for what? Because it's 'not the future' ? Pretty soon the future is just going to be 'not in business' whether on campus or off. JH meanwhile needs to take early retirement, just... yes, pay them to leave and be someone else's issue.

Does Follett still have ASU? That’s pretty big. Built a state of the art bookstore too

When follett took over Stanford it was a spectacular Bookstore. It held up OK for 10 years, maybe 11. Then they imported a vile stench from Cal (Now he goes by the impaler of Hyde Park). he initiated the undoing. That place is now physically dirty. It has poor inventory. It has had to give up retail space back the university. It's a shameful display of neediness and greed.
follett is gross. The board of the stanford bookstore wasn't/isn't much better.

Question for the “don't you have a day job” posters…don’t you?

I personally know some of the people on the ND team and they work their tails off to deliver a great experience. I hope none of them are replaced when B&N take over. Some have been there since nearly the beginning of the contract in 1997.

Don’t you all have day jobs? Maybe we wouldn’t lose stores like Notre Dame if you all worked instead of complaining on this site about how much work you have to do but clearly aren’t doing.
Yes, it's our fault that Follett is a really badly run company.
ALL our fault.

The RM from there already left to work for Fanatics earlier this year to head up their college division. He was smart! This is a monumental loss for Follett! Hold on to your hats folks!

Expect a MAJOR restructuring after this. The revenue lost for the company is irreplaceable. That account kept many other stores from closing.

Heads should be rolling. RM’s have been fired for “losing” lessor stores.

Who else does Follett currently have that is of the same value as Notre Dame (or more valuable)?

Yeah, it's already hit the wires online.
