Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

Have you started applying?

People who were laid off in the last round, have you started applying for new jobs yet? If so, how is the market looking in our field? Are there really plenty of jobs available as some are saying or is that an exaggeration? I'm thinking of leaving but haven't started looking yet. It'd be nice to know if there is a point to even try at this moment.

I haven't started looking yet. Need a good kick in the pants to get me going.

I really don't like my job. Don't like the woke stuff.

Don't like the management double talk. Don't like the outsourcing. Even if I go in to the office, I don't really have anyone there to work with.

The money is good, but frankly, I could work for less money and be happy.

Life is short.

There are a lot of variables at play that prevent a simple yes or no here. Your location, salary, qualifications, etc are going to determine market. As someone actively looking in a major market, there are a significant # of openings at better pay. Even if you aren't sure, survey what is out there and do a couple of interviews. You should be doing it every few years anyway to make sure you are keeping your skillset current to where the market is. You may be surprised at the opportunities that are out there currently.

You should definitely consider looking elsewhere. This company is pathetic and isn't capable of managing the business or the people. So many other companies with competent and more honest leadership are out there. Don't limit yourself to this joke of a company.
