Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Those left in Ann Arbor should be getting ready to find a new job.

You aren't going to be there long anyway.

@3svp+1by8vxuh - "Transformation " is code for layoffs. Your job is transformed into a low-cost destination job. We're all meaningless cogs, so why not use cheap ones.

@2siw+1by8vxuh - excellent points. The way they've gone through TAP and replaced them with folks from legal is disgusting.

Last year, they brought over someone from legal to replace a 25+ year veteran who headed up audit and assurance - and a trusted voice to partners and shareholders. She's a "transformation lead," whatever that means. She promised that she would help "right the ship" with respect to the product lines. She has no industry experience and, what's worse, absolutely no product knowledge of the segment. The complexity of the product lines involves years of institutional knowledge combined with fresh perspectives. They've completely negated the institutional knowledge at this company because it doesn't favor their desired balance sheet.

They've sacked anybody who did have knowledge, and valuable employees know which way the wind blows and and are leaving at the first reasonable opportunity.

With all of the Tax leadership being replaced by know-nothings from Legal, it feels pretty cr---y. Our business is more profitable per-customer than they are and we are literally years ahead of them in some major aspects of our business, yet they’re being it in positions they don’t deserve in TAP. It’s a disgrace. We’ve lost some very smart people in TAP and they aren’t ready for the brain drain being created.

Support is being outsourced to Manila from what I understand.

Do you actually know something or is it just venting? Software engineering (programming) postitions have been moving out of the US for some time, even with TR. Even though retired I do keep in touch with some current employees. As it is right now I guess it's a 75% reduction in Ann Arbor for programmers. Analysts in the US will have some cushion as they will be sorely needed for awhile. IMO support will be next to go, but again it's only my opinion.
