Before I came here I researched some companies and I thought dxc was much better than it is. And I thought the research was pretty thorough.
I’ve gotten 2 offers recently but I’m still here because I’m a lot more careful and I don’t want to go until I’m really sure the company is a lot better.
What do you pay the most attention to when applying for a job? How do I avoid getting into a similar atmosphere again?

oldDXCwithnewCOLOR you sound like a middle/lower manager type.
At least your not inventing useless tasks to keep others busy. Too many layers doing nothing that's what's wrong here M2 needs to get rid of the useless overmanaged layers and pay the workers properly, then this company will be turned around.
IF i were you I'd stay, where else can you get paid 70K+ and do nothing day in and day out and still get paid? I have asked for more (any) work over and over again, but still nothing assigned. Oh well I collect my pay check, charge hours to a general WBS code because I am at my desk everyday, go to meetings and even give my opinions on the subject matter, but I am never assigned anything. I love it!
As previous poster has said, avoid US based companies and focus on mid-sized growing companies. Look on glassdoor for reviews, look at their turnover so see how much it is growing year on year and go for those that are expanding in Europe.
Look at how those companies celebrate success with their workers. Having worked at a few companies. Including DXC, I would strongly warn against DXC as it just doesn’t hold anything for the average worker or manager. The atmosphere is terrible and there is no enthusiastic energy or ideas in there and believe me that will drag you down after a while.
The other thing I have found is that the younger the ceo, the more fresh the ideas at the top are and the more exciting the company can be. In comparison, DXC will feel like a slow old dinosaur living on old US ideas of low cost countries and will feel like you have gone back 10 years to a company stifled by policies (but no process), by rules (that work against you) and endless approvals to justify any decision that might cost money.
Just don’t I guarantee you will regret it later.
The answer is staring you in the face - look up potential employers on thelayoff.com
If you had done that with dxc you wouldn't be in the mess you're in.
If you want more money, then LEAVE as fast as your feet will carry you. DXC doesn't give pay increases no matter what Mike 2 is saying. If your not rated a 1 (walks on water) there is almost no chance you will get a penny
I would look for another career that can utilize your skillsets. IT is not respected by companies and is considered a necessary expense much like janitorial services. they are looking to outsource to countries with cheaper labor.
i would say that other global orgs (e.g IBM) will have the same issues as DXC. Your best bet would be to go for something more local, with no US head office and if it has to be a global org make sure its headquarters are based in Europe.
My view after escaping DXC late last year is that much of the issues I wanted to get away from were caused by the quarter by quarter cost/wfr management of the business (US led) and the layers of management and lack of local decision making (poor global structure)
Go local if you can and stay away from US dominated orgs
