How much do these have to do with who has been laid off and who will be laid off? If they are pertinent, does that mean you are expected to be “better than expected“ every year?

Does anyone know which level of management completes the 9-box assessment? Would it be the immediate manager, or is it someone higher up in the chain?
Expected reviews AND being ranked low on the 9 box targets you for layoff.
Expected ratings and top 3 on 9 box are usually ok.
Your manager will never tell you your 9 box rating.
I honestly think the performance reviews, assessment tests, and tenure have very little to do with determining who gets laid off. I think it comes down to who they are paying the most to do the same job and cut the more expensive cost. It’s all about the bottom line.
Your manager is required to give you somewhat cr---y reviews so they justify your low raises and show that there is room for improvement at all times. I am someone that writes said reviews.
If you look at the people terminated last year and the people targeted for the SSP, you’ll find it disproportionately impacted older (and higher paid) workers.
Less than you'd think. Salary and age are more important
I have a lot of insight on this. If you are rated less than BTE overall for more than 2-3 consecutive reviews, then you are considered for layoffs. It goes my overall rating, not the individual section. Tenure plays about 10% part in it as well. So, if you and another colleague had the same scores but they had a longer tenure, you would be chosen first.
