Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Will they offer another voluntary?

It will be interesting to see if they offer another voluntary based on this very dynamic- people scattered across the county not or not wanting to come back to SE MI. The return to office timing certainly lines up with the roll out of another voluntary. My guess is they would get more takers than they could ever dream of and finally rid themselves of their over 40 workforce.

From thread +1brTxKPs. I doubt it very much that they will offer voluntary. What do you think?

As one person recently posted. In the fall of 2018 VP Jim Holland said right on stage that Ford will cut PD worldwide by 25%. I recall that townhall. HR lady was right next to him on stage. But it will not stop with engineers, other areas of the company will reduce as well. Even the UAW will see 30-40% of their membership go down. There will be some very good people that will either retire or walked out. Sad most of them were looking for confident leadership. Products that people want. Why is that so hard for management to see that? 90+% of our profits comes from one product F-Series. We no longer have an Explorer or Ranger to help ease the burden. Morale is low people expect the hammer now.

@1gig+1bvxCWVM Do you really think that being "seen" constitutes one is of value? Also, Ford has been sending jobs to MX and China for years as well as outsourcing so they really don't give a care where the work is being done. You can sit your behind in a chair all day every day but it doesn't mean you are going to keep your job even if you are producing. The bottom line is that the vehicle Financials don't "box" so more and more jobs will be sent away or spun off in order to make the new EVs affordable. The cheaper labor and now engineering rates are critical. Without it, spells doom. It won't be long before they have everything EV being developed and produced basically between MX and China.

Really, quit because you have to go into work? How ridiculous!
I would challenge anyone to find a similar job with a company where the don't have to go to work at least a few days a week.
If you are not seen, you may not be needed.

If they make a requirement that it's back to full time work in office for all the office based employees then they don't need to give carrots out to quit/retire. I know of people who have moved to more distant places from Dearborn and wfj at Ford once they make a requirement to come to Dearborn every week it will be peace out for many of them that is how they can do it if they want to cut some employees

Doubtful for a couple of reasons. Capable engineers are leaving. Significant brain drain from SRD / VIP. Only about 20% of current engineering/ LL6 workforce are capable and engaged. We are not able to tell the difference between deadwood and good employees. We've created more management and more layers, most if not all, are not value added.
