Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

You'll be okay

Take it from somebody who was laid off about eight months ago, you'll be okay. After the first shock is gone, you'll realize that they did you a favor. It took me less than two months to find a new job, and that was when the job market was much worse than it is now. In my new company I get to enjoy regular working hours, normal workload, and respectful managers who shockingly know what they're doing and how to help me when I need it. None of that I had at TR. As I said, you'll be okay.

I'm happy that worked out well for you, and I know several others who have moved on quite successfully.

However, some of are older & close to retirement. I can't see finding company that would be willing to hire me at same/similar salary knowing I'm not going to be around for long enough for that investment to pay off.
