What the he-l just happened? What did they even say? Assessments for all of legal or just manager level? That was so vague and so terrible. Did they say non-attorneys are getting new managers? Did they say there will be layoffs in support staff? It was so fast, under-prepared, vague and terrifying. Just terribly unacceptable.

Allstate is a horrible place to work. Never ending word salad meetings, constant schizophrenic changes that never reduce workload, increase productivity or encourage efficiency for anything. Unreasonable and unrealistic workload and demands with mediocre pay. I’m out of here as soon as I am in a position to leave. Worst job I’ve ever had (almost 10 years).
If you don’t like doing something, have the integrity to not do it.
You know those weren't Harold/Gerard's words, right? You can be damn sure that script was written/approved by HR and folks higher on up. I doubt they liked having to do that anymore than we liked hearing it. It's just sad that the company thinks that meetings like that are an acceptable, transparent way of communicating with their employees.
Good lawyers are effective communicators. Is Harold a good lawyer?
I heard him say that they have some areas where there is need, and that they will be trying to fill those from within. His next sentence, however, was that they are also looking for redundancies. I read that as layoffs.
I think it’s safe to assume support staff will be on the chopping block at some point. Maybe not Aug/Oct, but 2022.
It will affect almost all SCO's. It will impact Paralegals and Lead attorneys at first cut.
I think he said it would not affect all staff council offices. Also I’m really starting to wonder if support staff will be on the chopping block next. Case in point: a couple of large insurance companies don’t use paralegals. The attorneys and the admin do all the work. But, their attorneys have much smaller case loads.
Do we have any sense of whether this is across al staff counsel offices or just some? Some have multiple lead counsels (which seems necessary), while others have just one
It is so comical to watch my lead counsel squirm right now. I do not feel bad whatsoever for them. They do literally nothing.
Select Band F (Lead Counsel) are being given the assessment. It seems all that did not take the SSP and then some. Same formula as claims will be used to “supposedly” determine who will stay and who will go. 65% last two years rating, 30% skills assessment and 10% tenure. There will be a new non attorney band C1 created for non attorneys to manage support staff. This makes some band F redundant. My guess is that if you did not accept the SSP, you are targeted as GONE in a few months. Nat Gen was also on the call and is going through the same.
Really disappointing that they can’t even clearly communicate these things when they have such a major impact on people’s lives.
That was an absolute joke. This company is getting worse by the second. Try taking questions from people instead of reading from a script then a thank you and goodbye.
They said they don’t anticipate any more roles undergoing the assessment process “at this time”. Do with that what you will. It seems like the assessments coming out on June 29 will be for managers only. They won’t be given at all scos. They said review process for managers will be completed at the end of August.
Agree completely, that was embarrassing and similar to a hostage video. It sounds like they're going back to having separate managers for support staff vs. attorneys, which was how things used to be many years ago, so once again, no new ideas here. If there are now new managers for support staff, the Lead Counsel will have less direct reports and thus we'll have too many Lead Counsel. But again, it was so vague that I'm just guessing based on that awful word salad they served us. Just a terrible presentation. Why have a meeting like that if you're just going to read from a script?!?
