Annual dismissal of underperforming employees!

https://www.worldoil.com/news/2021/6/21/exxon-plans-to-annually-cull-up-to-10-of-us-office-jobs-for-next-several-years?fbclid=IwAR2fhuHmx3A_gI-3ULtAOKUmDnjVUs5HF0Xx46E0i5l5fSwr0JTQQu44dQ0

What is wrong with your management? Just give severance to those you want gone and be done with it. They never learn. Exxon has made a few big dollar d-mb mistakes in recent times, but also many large dollar woes were also out of its control. Giving out some severance out would amount to a small scratch as opposed to a gaping wound. It seems that management wants to prove to employees that they will not squeeze a nickel out of them. Are they that small of human beings, or was it a group of leaders that thought this way in the past, and kicked off this unquestioned culture and process of ridding itself of employees. My observation is that Exxon, generally, has been successful at hiring the best. So what are you trading your underperformers for - a continuous stream of new grads?

What are they trading them for? Cheap labor and low quality.

We here at Exxon love non-productive time (npt). That is why we make supervisors and management continually administer to performance improvement plans, by virtue of ranking and the must actions to those at the bottom. More reports and meetings. What's not to love.

Bottom line if you don’t have your nose up someone’s rear you’ll be gone no matter what type of employee you are.
