The appointment of TG to HR VP was one of the worst decisions made by DW. He knew her well and liked her “take no prisoners” style. Perfect for a henchman. However, anyone with a half a brain could see it wouldn’t turn out well for the company. Scorched earth stupidity is what ensued.

Management by fear and intimidation within HR. A tyrant does not a good HR VP make. Good advice is held back to avoid the wrath of the boss. Bad decisions made that negatively impact the company.

Very sad to see how far we have fallen.

Nobody has to have HR experience to be a good HR employee or manager. It would be absolutely sufficient to exhibit human behavior, have a dose of emotional intelligence, and foster an open culture. The rest will come by itself. There were also many good and honest HR colleagues to run the Business. But anyone who, like the wicked witch of the west, degrades HR employees into flying monkeys, shouldn't be surprised if the mood changes at some point. I'm one of those flying monkeys too, and I'm having a hard time with it. I am waiting for liberation.

The VP of HR has no previous HR experience. Her qualifier is being DW’s friend/henchman. Hence all the issues with anything HR touches (layoffs, ranking, return to work, morale, labor in Beaumont). The HR employees who have the training, education and experience in the field see this disaster and jump ship.

HR in the US was hit at 35% during the 2020 programs. Upon coming back in 2021 they were immediately ordered to fix morale in the business with not a word of sympathy to them.

I know everyone hates HR but at the end of the day we’re the soldiers executing for the dictator. At some point it’s too much and it’s time to go elsewhere.

The focus this PIP season will be the retirement eligible HR employees who didn’t take the recent layoff offer and pitiful 4 month severance. They are about to over-represent the PIP process this year so the company can get these highly paid people off the payroll via an offer they can’t refuse.

The overall caliber of people let go in HR is better than what remains.

What’s left are stressed out NREs and REs keeping their heads down and trying to eek out another year of survival and a higher pension.

The other large group is the under 50 crowd who hope benefits and raises will return one day such that a rewarding career can still be possible. Then they remember the nightmare ranking prospects awaiting them and the likelihood of more HR work being offshored to cheaper countries, thus bringing even more job cuts.

They are all looking for jobs and hoping for a more positive career somewhere else. For now, they will resort to what has worked for them to this point, and that is focusing in on their boss and being as obsequious as possible to him at all times. The boss always enjoys it and thinks the employee is demonstrating good judgement. Of course, the boss chuckles to himself because knows no one does obsequiousness like him and he then begins to schedule his next flattery session with his own boss.

That is what our get with Tracy. To survive, you must drink her sunflower kool-aid, keep your.mouth shut, look to her for all your direction, have none of your own ideas, kiss her bu-t. She has been the same since she stepped off the bridge; lies, deception, judgements,
Kows all the answers. She is the best and the brightest, just ask her. Aye, aye, Captain G. She is just like all the rest at her level and above and the reason this ship is beyond repair.

HR management treats many HR colleagues absolutely disrespectfully. Differing opinions are not permitted. Only those who do not object can survive. Creative work is impossible under anxiety. This is how it must feel in the re-education camps run by dictatorships. I've been with HR for a long time. I've never seen anything like it before. The assessment system is reminiscent of the new Chinese social credit system. Employees who are different are sorted out. But at the same time the management promotes inclusion and diversity. But only on paper. I am ashamed of HR. We used to be better. Maybe not perfect, but better. There is no longer any justification for using the H = Human in HR. Please only call us "R".

The HR VP got rid of almost half the U.S. HR staff over the last year via layoffs and NSI. Another 8-10% to be whacked this year and annually the next several years.

Those jumping ship now are smart and those staying are like frogs in water that will be soon be boiling. Can you imagine being ranked this year when the bottom half of the list is gone? Yikes! It will get worse each succeeding year.

Meanwhile, plans for offshoring more HR work continues and will accelerate further U.S. HR employee reductions.

At some point, the HR VP and her sycophantic and clueless European direct reports will be the only ones left. Who will do their dirty work for them?

I have a friend who is a comp and benefits expert. She changes jobs every 4-5 years like clockwork.
