Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Will there be more layoffs or was yesterday it?

What are the chances that we'll see more cuts before the end of the week (mainly, today?) I wish I could relax and believe it's over but this place has pushed my anxiety to a new level in the past few years. The only consolation I have is that the job market seems to be getting better, so maybe finding a new job won't be as hard as I previously imagined.

What is also crazy is that this website is a place where all of us from TR and in different offices gather to share experiences and pass along any information we know. Think meerkat in the savannah, this is the website that hints at which way the wind is blowing :)

What is crazy is that I have to find out about layoffs through this website. They don't have the decency to let my department attend meetings or receive emails with updates.

I'm selling my stock. Glad I left. Hasker is a huckster. Thomson family would have to be driving this. I think legal and tax and accounting will be sold. Hear that they want to compete with Bloomberg. Probably not much growth left in u.s. for other products

How many people in total got cut this week? Which locations?

Definitely they are not done. 160 people losing their jobs through the end of 2021 and that's just one department. 18 years with this place and they show no loyalty to the employee, global corporate mindset only focused on the bottom line - the almighty dollar.

If I were still at TR, I would be fleeing for the exits.

TR has been able to save a ton of money with remote workers and nearly non-existent travel over the last year. Those costs are bound to go back up with COVID restrictions lifting across the United States and a sense of normalcy creeping back in.

If there's anything to be learned about the cuts, it's that they're driving short-term stock price gains and probably long-term looking for massive divestiture of TR assets.

Based on that observation, I would presume that the cuts are far from over.

Change program in action! Buckle up folks, you’ll be amazed at how much more cost we can slash to drive near term share performance.

I hope you all also have hefty shareholdings as part of your package, and a 2Y severance for when the long term consequences inevitably come home to roost in 2-3 years!

Ann Arbor said that layoffs will come in two more waves through Q4. They also said that it would happen in other locations. Unfortunately, seems like they are not done.
