Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

No such thing as friendships

The coworkers who you thought were friends - aren’t. For those you interact with and consider your friends while you’re at work, I bet that once you leave the company - it’s out of sight, out of mind. For example, I haven’t heard from any of my colleagues in months since I left for another job at the beginning of the year. I’ve reached out to them to get together on numerous occasions but haven’t received a single response. But in the last month a few have tried to contact me asking if I knew of any companies that are hiring. Moral of the story - they’re only friends when they want something from you.

this post is the truth! Actually my coworkers stayed in contact UNTIL i got a better job... then nothin'. I was still getting phone calls and all of that while i had horrible retail jobs after i left, and i think i was being used as justification in their minds for them staying in their current positions. As SOON as I did get a new/better paying job outside of insurance- its like i never knew them. Very revealing of how people operate. not everyone is like that but... just my experience

Remember those former coworkers are still working 12-13 hour days and just wasn’t to eat dinner , put the kids to bed and go to sleep themselves in preparation for another long day filled with angry Insured’s and claimants . I’d love to go to happy hour or go hang out at a bbq but we’re so exhausted that we’re lucky to get 4 hours of sleep due to the extra stress of the layoffs leaving us with double the workload .

This just in from OP, work colleagues aren’t your best friends. Allegedly the waitress isn’t flirting with you either. We’ll have more on these stunning revelations with OP at 11

Yep, sounds like it’s your first time at this rodeo. It’ll be easier next time. Unfortunate reality of any large corporation in today’s world.

Work isn't a social club. If you want friends, work is not the place to find them generally

Corporate America teaches this. That’s the behavior of Allstate. If you can’t do anything for me you’re not worth my time. However, there are a few folks that don’t buy into this and are real to their core. They’re just too busy making a living and dealing with their own sh-t. Be a true friend and help the laid off network to get a better job. Allstate is a sinking ship like Sears. Hope they get it over with soon and not give any more false hopes. There is no opportunity at Allstate in this country. It’s just a paycheck.

This post is so real! Unfortunately, as an adult most people only care about what you can do for them. Now that your not at the job, many feel you can do nothing for them and only reach out when they need something.

Op- this is a layoff page not a shrink's office.

Call Lucy Van Pelt. Heard she charges 5¢.

I remember my first breakup too. It'll get better buddy. If you love them...set them free.
