Expanding skills

It turned out that my expectations that I had when I applied for a job here and the reality here are diametrically opposed. I wanted to work here because I thought it was the ideal place to expand my skillset.
The reality is that I failed to gain any more skills than I had when I first came here. I don't know what your experiences are in this regard and how much have you managed to grow your knowledge and skills here?

@2eyx+1btBNNq3 Hit the bulls eye! Lot of pretenders, talkers and presentation jockeys at leadership roles. I'm seeing useless people getting promoted for the above reasons, including due to clan loyalty.

It isn't uncommon to have a toxic narcissistic boss who habitually lies, manipulates, withholds information and steals credit for your work. These word dancers would rather set people up to failure to cover up their insecurities and intellectual weakness, than do what is right for business development. The turleman and the lanky witch in Upstream are classic examples of how corrupt the system is.

You can develop two skills at Imperial;

  1. Pretending ( pretend to be busy, how to hold handrails, say yeah, yeah when incompetent group manager present and go through Business practice review, Safety review, involved in cultural activities, unites ways, so called diversity and How you overcome fake disability).
  2. Presenting (present your tiny work again and again and you can also add some lie, include other people work as yours they won’t able to find that).

As Imperial Managers are useless, they will always give credit to above activities.

You won’t get any credit for your actual work, how smartly you solve problems, how you keep your stakeholders happy, how efficiently you keep your plant running by less cost. Most of Imperial Managers leadership capabilities are“ Yes boss”, “Yes boss” type. They also don’t hesitate to lie. They are not capable of giving the right job to right people.

Each company has pros and cons. However, If you keep above type of leadership mentalities in other companies, you will be kicked out right away. Lastly, Imperial promote pretenders.

Sorry to hear that. Try picking up skills outside of work or trying new hobbies. I also just tell my superiors what my interests are and what type of work I want to try. You can't get everything on your list but you do get some. It's like that everywhere really. Work will always have some boring parts no matter what you do. Part of it is on you to self advocate and spend extra hours putting in the learning time for your passions. Buy textbooks, learn to code, study up, ask for help etc.

Company has been in a slow decline over the last 5+ years, but really fallen off a cliff in the last two and it’s in free fall rn. Not the company I hired into.
