That’s Darren’s middle finger to the general workers. Wait till they announce his compensation. And can someone let me know what’s his achievements this year - other than the crappiest shareholder returns and also losing board seats. Oh, one board member just sat in the seat for less than half a year. What’s this? A temp/special assignment?!

Let’s see how many management updates and coffee chats will occur after this announcement. Managers have now lost all credibility after not stating the staff reduction goals during this last round.

If your going to make these type of statements offer some packages or something. I didn’t think morale could get any lower.

Wow! I don't work for Exxon, but it is clear that they will be targeting older employees for sure. And not even offering severance is a A move for sure.

Does anyone give a sh-t about working here now? I might just slack off for a year and get paid before getting pip'd next cycle. Free year of pay not bad. Maybe you might even make it to two years...

So much for that transparency they promised us after the 401k freeze leaked to the media before the employees were told. Great job!

But remember, “being PIP’d is to your benefit, and has a high passing rate!” according to HR.

What a load of bull.

Reported by Bloomberg (paywall), but here is the same article posted on Bloomberg's Canadian partner. I like the comment "The cuts will target the lowest-rated employees relative to peers, and for that reason will not be characterized as layoffs"; so be happy... No Layoffs!
