Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

KLTC forum discussion

Sli.do questions were terribly handled by the manager. Filled with heated discussions and denial. Seems like it’s time for experienced MPE/PMA to pack our bag and kiss the TMTS good bye.

4 years with company, joined as fresh grad, my salary is 6.5k. Truth is experienced hire will always get lot more than campus hire. Speaking of loyalty pffttt

I just head someone coming in to be a PMA engineer for 8k (with 3 years outside experience) and another with 7k offer (with 2 years outside experience). Our leadership likes to say we are cherry picking but they know for a fact that our EM-trained staff are nowhere paid as much as people they take in from outside. Even if their pay stays stagnant for 1-2 years, we still cannot catch up. Most of us are 3-5 years experience are still getting average 7k pay.

Management is in denial or they know what's up but have to pretend that everything is ok. Engineers are overworked and there is absolutely zero interest from the company to introduce more progressive work policies other than asking you to talk to your supervisor to have some flex days (which is subjective and bs). There's also constant talk about 'returning to office' after this covid thing in the name of productivity and collaboration. This old school boomer mindset is going to the death of the company.

Things have truly gone down the drain in the past few years and the workforce is extremely demotivated. Almost everyone is actively looking for a job or interviewing yet management and HR still parrot that 'all is well'. The 'rebranded' ranking system further makes things worse when you realize it's all a political game.

The manager already has a new job. And probably got there prioritizing looking good upwards. Definitely not interested in fighting for people in KL. It is everyone for themselves.

Even with obvious resignations of more experienced engineers every week to better paying jobs, the manager had the gall to pull out 'statistics' muddled with fresh hires who have been brought in to plug the big gaps and proudly state that % attrition had not gone up. The manager even told folks not the 'cherry pick' data when they were obviously manipulating it to hide that attrition experienced engineers is at its highest ever. Denial at it's best.

It's denial because the responses have to be scripted. It's scripted because these managers have no leadership. There's no leadership because managers can only toe the line -- there are no two ways about it. Else they themselves will get the boot, sooner than later. Don't vote on Sli.do. Vote with your feet.
