But I'm certainly willing to go back to the same level of productivity from before I started working from home, which was nowhere close to what I'm able to achieve currently. Without constant interruptions of coworkers, unnecessary micromanaging, tiredness from commuting more than an hour each way, my productivity increased drastically. The company loses nothing and gains quite a bit by me working from home. But if that doesn't matter and they want to pay me the same for less work, so be it.

Corporations can put on all the dog and pony shows they way want to about returning to work, but they still rely heavily on a motivated and engaged workforce just as much as that same workforce relies on getting a paycheck.
The world is fundamentally different now and the mindset of workers has changed. The thing they ought to fear the most is being the last company to figure that out.
Cnc manager here. I'm not requiring any of my people to go back to the office. I personally will quit before going back.

Just so you know, in NYC you won't really have cubes anymore when you go back to the office. It will be hotel seating for everyone except management. They haven't told ya'll yet.
My manager has elevated micromanaging to a fine art even with work from home.
But why would the company want to deny you your personal belongings?

Unless your Cube or Department is being eliminated, however. Then you will be excommunicated.
Seriously, from others' experiences here...if you have anything personal in your Cube, as soon as you can get access, bring a box and remove it. You may not have the opportunity later even if you are returned to your Cube.
