This is a question for anybody who has been part of a closing store: who is eligible to receive severance? I'm assuming if you're a full-timer, you are guaranteed something, right? Can you get a job at another location if you received severance or do you risk losing the package?

Full time and part time can get severance of you're store is closing or they eliminate your position. Not sure about flex. But you can take severance and come back to the company I think after 3 months away. If you take severance and be come to macys sooner than the grace period you are required to pay some of it back. But if you come back sooner you will still get all your vacation back and it will be as if you never left the company. I worked at a store that closed this year. Some ladies were thinking of taking severance and coming back before the grace to not loose anything. But also have time away from the company.
no severance - they are firing the old timers on some jacked up excuse (and just a few newbies so they don't get sued)
Ditto to that question - what was the criteria used to lay off employees back in June 2020?

2020 spring/summer layoffs didn’t have any transfer options because of covid and not knowing when the stores would reopen and how many employees they would need. They were picking and choosing who was laid off and who could come back. Now they are trying to hire for the same positions and these applicants want a higher competitive wage than what the laid off people were making.
Is your store closing? I haven’t heard of any stores closing until next year?
I was full time support back in 2016 when they closed our location. I was offered either a package or a transfer. For the transfer they let us select our 1st and 2nd choice of nearby stores. If anything was comparable to your current position at the other stores, they would offer it to you first. Once offered a position at another store though, you weren’t allowed to then change your mind and take the package. I got my second store choice.
If so take the money and run do not go to another store
