Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

How much effort did you have to put in to get promoted?

I no longer have any hope of promotion. I put in maximum effort, tried to add value, was very proactive, worked harder than ever. It was worth nothing. I never got a promotion.

Even though it’s all behind me now because I got an offer from another company, I wonder where I went wrong and what was actually the secret for getting a promotion here?

Yep, keyboard warriors. Have no foundation just the same old koolaid pro company rhetoric no matter how bad things get.

It sad. These type of people usually got bullied or neglected their whole life so they become keyboard warriors on forum posts and attempt make everyone miserable so that no one posts anything. He’s clearly trying to bait people into insult wars. Such a child.

I read all the posts from time to time to see what people’s thoughts are. It seems that if anyone has a different opinion than you, you call them a beavis. You do know that’s not strengthening your argument any don’t you? You come across as a child or a teenager, which you may be. Try being more open to different points of view. There are other opinions out there both good and bad. Expressing “Go Citi” every other post doesn’t shed light on anything and it certainly won’t make a difference in your job performance.

I wonder if you’ll say that at the end of Q4 when they are slated to let go of a bunch of analyst.

“Anything is possible for a company when its culture is about listening, learning, and harnessing individual passions and talents to the company’s mission. - Satya Nadella - Microsoft”

The question is, do you see that at Citi.

@ the 19 yr old veteran: I’m as loyal to the company as the company is to me. The results of that statement will vary from department to department as not all departments are managed the same.
Some managers would be glad to hear that while others may frown.

19 year veteran of Citi. No longer with the company.
Will say before I was 40 company was very good to me. Once I hit a particular age, I was considered sc-m and they treated me like sc-m. So please be aware this is not a company of loyalty and respect. Get what you can at of it, then get out. Otherwise they will leach you to death.

I am glad that you dont like overachievers like me that has earned multiple promotions eventhough I am not related to anyone and not friends with any of the managers either. You sound like the same grunt that posts on the jp morgan board.

I said it before and I'll say it again Go Citi!!!

One solution is to get rid of koolaid drining people like yourself. Then again maybe you like it while your down there.

Planet earth b-a. Sorry you dont cut the mustard and blame others for your career. If all you are doing is pushing the buttons effectively then yes that's not profitable. You need to provide the solutions duhh.

I am glad you moved on as promotions are earned at Citi and not given. You really have to be at the top of your game all day every day. Best of luck for your future.

Sorry but unless you’re on the DEI spectrum you can forget getting promoted. White males need not apply……

You did exactly what you were supposed to do. If you don’t like your environment, then change your environment. I congratulate you on being brave enough to venture beyond Citi for an opportunity elsewhere vs “just taking it”. You’re taking control of your own fate and hopefully landed somewhere that appreciates your effort and dedication.
